Just look at the EPL where local English talent is compromised just to get the best available foreign players to make it the most watched league

As for fixing yes there was a problem particularly in the 90's with our so-called superstars.
But that is what is different about this Pakistan team over the last 5 years.
Players like Azhar Ali and Asad Shafique who might not be as talented as we previously had but giving their best.
And again fixing is not limited to cricket....there have been reported cases of fixing in football, rugby and even in tennis.
Infact the FIFA scandal implicated the people running that sport for corruption !
The Pakistan team is really not that good that every time it loses it would be due to fixing.
