What's new

Pakistan announces 5th-gen fighter and medium-altitude long-endurance UAV programs

What I know is UAV INSHALLAH will come fast as we already have come up with Burraq so we can come up with more UAV fast

. .
one in the middle looks very much a like Burraq , just a little fancy Burraq .. the design wont very much what i can say, but as desert Fighter is saying its about Payload and Endurance of the drones in future, for us Drones and Attack helicopters are important to keep this internal fight under-control

what is common in all three designs shown at the backdrop is the Jet powered drone designs, secondly these drones does not appear as some known systems though some similarities with existing systems from different part of the world could be identified so most probably those images might only be artist impressions just for illustration purpose

exactly and even if there is a new Design i doubt PA would put it up right on the poster of ribbon cutting ceremony of Aviation City .. they will wait until they test the system with whatever Avionics , Payload and fly time, and once its close to be deployed and if we get lucky we might see a glitch of it, PA has a History of doing that .. may PAF is following their suit

Fighter Jets (going good man)
4+ gen JF-17 block 3

Trainer Aircraft (also going good man)
Super Mushshak
K-8

UAV's
MALE UCAV's to be developed

Weapons and Radars
Air to surface weapons and AESA radars are also to be built

PAF should also pursue

Helicopters
Transport and Attack need to developed

In their mindset everything is tied to the "budget"!!! Without a proper budget you can't even have a decent son-in-law for your daughter according to my Indian colleagues!!!!
Indeed, my dear friend. Theres no best way to describe the confined mentality of theirs as you put it.

Please Mention Some of them ??

Guys can we please make sure that we have no off topic and butthurt troll posts please

Easier said than done, especially with what you're working with.
Sure, But that shouldnt stop us from learning, After all it took 30+ plus years for Tejas to become MARVEL in air, We too can learn a great deal from such project once we start doing it

. .
At least now India opens it's eyes and go for advanced platforms
It already has, Rafael, and now f-16s

wrong you are not aware of earlier Pakistani projects I suppose, none of Pakistani missiles were ever failures, look their tanks, JF-17, burraq... atomic bumbs not a single failure.
@waz @Jungibaaz
another buthhurt loser post meant to de-rail the thread. Please do the needful

This will be huge development in our thinking if we choose to design and produce 5th Gen. fighters at home. We really need it because our trade deficits will put too much pressure on economy and will constraint military resources the same way. In fact, Pakistan should go for backward integration of JF-17 especially for avionics, radars and munitions as well and because the parts we're importing are very costly but if they're produced at home they'll cost much less and will open new doors for future research. We have plenty skill and raw resources, if we utilize them properly we can do it even with small budgets, but, again if opt to produce instead of imports even in case of parts.

Hi,

Let us not get carried away with the success of the JF17. Manufacturing tier 1 avionics is more difficult than building a fighter aircraft---.

How important are tier 1 avionics and EW systems---look at the upgraded 60 + years old war horse the B52 bomber---with modern tier 1 avionics and EW systems---there is no other weapons system like that in the world at this moment---.

JF17 is a successful project because the Paf understood and stayed within the limits of its capabilities.

You just simply cannot produce those parts at home---you have to first get permission---buy machinery and other equipment and have the resource available.

In order for you to get the best---you have to share your money with others---means---that in order for your project to succeed---others---in other countries---their projects need to be supported as well.

Progress is not a one way street.

Welcome to the forum.

Pakistan Airforce should think of two different types of Programme we are 30 years behind iaf we should buy TOT for TFX and J 20
they cant buy j-20s because china isnt gonna sell them

Thats presuming that the programme is starting now; as opposed to being in implementation stage. Rumours that J31/J20 type fighter would be produced at Kamra have been around since 2010. The ACM has said outright; that PAF will have 5Gen by 2020. Which would presume that the PAC likely has been working with China already.

5 Gen jet would be a compelet differnent kettle of fish than JF17. JF17 was originally a moudal jet, which could be produced using existing infrasstructure. 5Gen would require new production line and exotic, bespoke tools.
wait so paf is gonna have 5th gen fighters by 2020?

Hmm, I was not criticizing JF-17 project or its success nor I was talking about copying something. It is no doubt is successful project and have saved us from some serious headache we would have otherwise.

I was talking about indigenous work where we're falling permanently behind - my comment was more public oriented instead of govt institutions. I know things are easier said than done. But taking nation to new heights always require extraordinary efforts, work and sacrifices. Anyway, sorry if someone didn't like what I said, I'm just 'Don't Give up!" type of guy.

And thanks for "welcome".
