Pakistan angers Afghans by suggesting Taliban share power - minister

They are very extreme and not within our interests or of the Afghan people.
But the way to deal with them is the real issue.
The US invasion aggravated the situation, didn't help at all.

It caused more radicalisation, taliban became even more backwards and cold blooded.
On the Al Qaeda front, the leaders were scattered, some killed. But via 9/11 and the War on terror, Al Qaeda grew from a regional menace to a global one, with operations in Asia, Africa and Europe.

You are fooling yourself if you believe that - there are 90's videos that highlight the Taliban's sick Afghan rule - now don't tell me that the messing of the Afghan populace with the talibans retard seventh century ideology, beheading's and public executions, women being killed because they were educated, killing school going kids because they are not concealed enough - putting up trumpeted adulteration cases, f@cked up blasphemy laws was an acceptable evil for the sake of geo strategic importance by the Pakistan regime.

If you cant fight cancer then make peace with it and die peacefully this is what some people are suggesting to afghanistan i guess ..

looks like pakistan dint learn any lessons from the past and are still hoping for a piggy back ride to the power corridoars of kabul thru taliban but i guess this time around they are for a big surprize dont worry pakistan shaal reap the benfits of thre love for taliban very soon ...Good luck

my dear , i would really love to know your pov on what you just said. Why would we piggy back the ride to kabul? as you claim, we had power in kabul since 1994 - 2001. What benefit did we gain from it? and why would we do it again?
Are we planning on or did we plan on invading other countries from afghan soil?.
I can understand your argument when it comes to Kashmir and LeT, as the plan is to train militants and make them fight proxy war in JK and gain independence.but afghanistan and Taliban? it doesn't make sense to me, so care to elaborate please?

my dear you need to open your eyes and look at the widened horizon ....look beyond Taliban, why don't you guys look post soviet war and pre 1996. You will find answers to your question. Taliban were not the only people execurting, beheading and rapping, the so called representatives of people sitting in the govt today were also among those local warlords and druglords.

Taliban stands for Terror. They only people that support them in Afghanistan are minority within the Pashtun population, but they are a minority in Afghanistan.
you are under wrong impression my dear, or is it because you have this sectarian curtain coveringyour eyes?

@Topic, rather than barking at Pakistan the FM and the stooge Karzai should ask his master America who has involved Pakistan in this in first place, they have a habit of invading a foreign land and than leave it in mess. They did the same with Vietnam, Cuba,Afghanistan in the 80s, than the 90s guld war and now the latest Afghanistan and Iraq. So mr . karzai go and bark on your master, hes the one who forgot to feed you a bone and left you out while they had a party with taliban behind closed doors :help:

This might be your opinion, 60-70 percent of Afghan poppulation is Pushtun, while the power in the political and military circles is with the non pushtuns ( Tajiks and Hazaras ), this is more of an ethnic conflict and Pushtuns tend to support Taliban ( which btw are all Pushtuns). Pushtuns have been dominant there since thousands of years, they gave a tough time to Alexander, Persians, British, Russians and now a Allied Army of 32 countries, you can't just go in there and snatch power from them and give it to minority groups. VP Joe Biden, had said that Taliban aren't there enemy, the opening of Qatar office proves that, if US accepts Taliban's demand of withdrawing troops ( which they will in 2014) and if Taliban accept American demand that Afghan soil won't be used to fan international terror....it would be a win-win situation for Afghans, Pakistan and Americans...but would be a big blow for the Karzai puppet governer of Kabul ( since he can't even leave Kabul), Indians ( since they won't be able to support Baloch insurgency from Afghan soil) and National Front ( which is somewhat newer version of Northern Alliance).

This idea was floated by President Musharaf, i.e. he told the Americans not to isolate the Pushtuns, which they did, by handing over power to non Pushtuns ( plz dont say Karzai is a pushtun, he doesnt know JS about the local people..he is literally a foreigner..who has lived all his life abroad)....had they given a heed to what Musharaf told them during the Bush era...things would have been different today with considerably less support for the Taliban.

Last year there was a documentary by National Geographic, the journalist was embedded with Taliban fighters, where ever they went, the local villagers would give them a heroes welcome, cook food for them, invite them to their houses, after seeing this the guy making the documentary said one line, which I can never forget. If this is the war US is fighting, then the Americans have already lost it, they have failed to win the hearts and minds.

Pakistan has floated the concept of an Afghan power-sharing arrangement between Kabul and the Taliban as part of a peace talks "end game", Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Ershad Ahmadi said on Monday, a suggestion met with outrage in Kabul.

The idea was raised in a Friday meeting between Pakistani national security adviser Sartaj Aziz and Afghan ambassador Umer Daudzai, Ahmadi told Reuters. It involved a form of federalism and ceding power in some Afghan provinces to the Taliban.

The suggestion dashed hopes of a reset in the relationship between the South Asian neighbors following the election of Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif last month.

It also suggests a visit by British Prime David Cameron to the region at the weekend to promote the Afghan-Pakistan relationship as well as peace talks with the Taliban had failed before he had even arrived.

"We believe this federalism is a means for the Pakistanis to achieve what they could not achieve through their proxy (the Taliban) on the battlefield," Ahmadi said.

Pakistan has a considerable influence over the Afghan Taliban leadership, based in the southwestern Pakistani city of Quetta.

It is seen as crucial to U.S. and Afghan efforts to promote peace in Afghanistan, a task that is gaining urgency as NATO troops prepare to withdraw from the country by the end of 2014.

Afghanistan has long accused Pakistan of playing a double game regarding the 12-year-old war, saying its neighbor, facing a Taliban insurgency of its own, makes public pronouncements about peace, but allows elements of its military to play a spoiling role.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai also voiced his concern about Pakistan's motive in the peace process during a Saturday news conference with Cameron, saying that "delivering a province or two to the Taliban" would be perceived as an invasion by the Afghan people.

Pakistan was not immediately able to comment on what was said by Aziz or its view of Ahmadi's assertions.

"GRAND DESIGN"

Ahmadi also said the ceremonial opening of the Taliban office in the Gulf state of Qatar's capital, Doha, which raised angry protests in Kabul that the office had the appearance of a government-in-exile, was part of a Pakistani plan designed to increase the insurgents' international prestige.

"There are elements within the Pakistani government who have a grand design of using the peace process as a means to undermine the Afghan state and establish little fiefdoms around the country in which the Taliban - its most important strategic asset in Afghanistan - play an influential role," he said.

Before Afghanistan suspended talks in Doha, U.S. officials had said they would have stuck to an insistence that the Taliban break ties with al Qaeda, end violence and accept the Afghan constitution, including protection for women and minorities.

During their 1996-2001 reign, the Taliban banned women from education, voting and most work, and they were not allowed to leave their homes without permission and a male escort.

Ahmadi said despite hopes the new Sharif administration may curb meddling in Afghan affairs, Kabul now felt the civilian administration was aiding the double game played by the military and the country's powerful intelligence agency, the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).

"While we believe there are elements of the military and the ISI who endeavor to weaken the Afghan state, their narrative seems to be getting some kind of buy-in from other state institutions and that's a major concern," he said.

In particular, the ISI had played a significant role in the events in Doha, Ahmadi said. Part of the reason Kabul was so outraged by the opening of the Taliban office was the use of symbols, including the Taliban flag, that had not been approved as part of the peace deal.

Soon after that flag was taken down, some or all of the Taliban delegates held a meeting with ISI officers in Doha, Ahmadi said.

"We do monitor these things and we know there have been regular interactions," Ahmadi said.

Sir it is really easy either Taliban will share power or they will take power and they will take all of it so better given them on your own and run away to other countries or they will take it

Well, same is almost true about Pakistani Taliban and its cohorts like LeJ etc.. As a matter of fact, the attacks are more frequent and impactful in Pakistan than what we see in Afghanistan.

Sadly the Pakistani approach has always been one of intended destruction of others which ultimately harms Pakistan itself. There are moments galore from history when Pakistan got in to decisions that it thought will actually harm others but in the finality of it, these decisions burned only Pakistan.

This attempt at getting Taliban a province under the "Federal" structure is once again something akin to another such attempt. Even though it may be looking like a nice idea for the intended swims in the fabled Strategic Depth, however, what the Pakistani strategist once again overlook is that this move will only lead to the division of Afghanistan. The path thus being propagated by Pakistan leads only to that. However, picture tab bhi baaki hogi

Once the Taliban have their country, you could bet a rat's arrse that Taliban will ask for all Pakhtun land in Pakistan also before the drop of a hat. And then Pakistan will be faced with another division, of course, a much bloody one at that.

But then, what difference does it make. Que Sera Sera.

well bro thanks for aknowledging the fact that your establishment ruled afghanistan from 1994-2004 thru there proxy taliban

next thing pakistanies have a very acute love for so called martial races and 5there supweriority over other here they are in love with pashtumn majority taliban ...kindly clear that pakistanies love taliban for bieng pashtuns as thay are in big numbers in pakistan also or they support them for there valour and sharia justice or say to control afghanistan

well to your utter surprise pakistani establishment is confused as they dont have any control over its easterwhile proxy now and niether do the arabs of UAE & Saudia cause now taliban have extortion , drug trafficving and illeagel arms trade for there financial support + they have the support of locals both side of durand land as they are Pashtuns

now the thing i wanted to say was that talibannies are now more or less free from the control of ISI and arabs as they consider both of them as slaves and puppets of the evil USA and now USA also knows this thats why it is talking directli to taliban with help from there arab friends keeping pakistani establishment at bay cause what they beleave pakistani establishment is a back stabing and double crosser ally which kept the taliban alive and played a double game with US & NATO to keep the western money and wepons supply open and now they are niether giving you free wepons nor are giving you remitence for WTO + are droning your country as they dont trust you any more niether do afghanies and your easterwhile strategikk assets and proxy afghan Taliban as you like to call them ....so in short pakistabni establishment is in bad books of all the players = current afghan govt , USA/NATO & of course Taliban + pakistanies dont beleave there own establishment and a civil war is brewing all over pakistan deu to there establishments greedy , idiotik and double crossing policies

so in short pakistani establishment is cought between the devil (USA) and the deep sea(Taliban& its supporters) while trying hard to keep itself in a postition to dominate which has led to chaos and it will be best for pakistani establishment to keep of its hands from the current power shairing in afghanistan and keep away in playing its old games other wise it will bring such a great destruction to pakistan that there will be .......... khair jane do aap samjhdaar insaan ho ...good luck
