Pakistan and Italy Agree to enhance defence ties

Things change bro (France?).
France won't sell us anything right now until they deliver all Rafale to India. UK can be the source. They offered us lot of weapons but money issue always comes in.

Why would you buy LGBs when you already produce them in house?

I'm not an expert but try INDRA EW suite from Spain ..

INDRA EW pod is already procured.

AESA and EW suite have to come from same manufacturer.

EFT uses CAPTOR-E and I believe this is even better than Raven ES-05.
@Horus @Tank131 @Bilal Khan 777 @Quwa @The Eagle

Captor E is reserved for EFT user countries only.

what about laser guided bombs & targeting pod in JF-17

LGBs are now local product. ATP is in finalisation, but is likely not to be Chinese.

These 'agreements' happen all the time, rarely means much from my experience.

That said, @Bilal Khan 777 why is the PAF looking to source the radar and EW suite from the same source? Why couldn't it get the radar from Leonardo (ex-Finmeccanica/ex-Selex) and the EW/ECM suite from some other NATO-compliant vendor, like Spain?

Good question. The issue is integration. This is relatively easier when you are using a TWT based radar like KLJ7, you can opt for poded EW ASPJs. However, in the AESA world, what works is what someone can take responsibility of, and a buyer cannot take responsibility of AESA and EW suite coming from two different sources. Hence, a tightly integrated solution, wherever it comes from, is required to have full utilisation of AESA.

PAF shall procure the block III AESA/inbuilt EW suite based on many factors such as availability, price, control, local support, industrialisation, source code transfer etc. PAF is not new to AESA technology for ground or air systems, but since JF17 is a long term investment, she is being a conservative one, and with the factors involved, this may just be the Chinese at the end of the day.

Indra ALQ-500 is an EW suite not a pod.

. . . . .
Anyone likes it or not, EW pod and AESA aren't gonna be Chinese if things got smooth with Italian..
Selex have long term running relationships with PAF and their TOT will also be smooth!

So, I'm guessing one reason why the PAF is averse to Leonardo is because Leonardo does not have a readily available EW/ECM solution, despite having the radar. It could develop one (as it did for the Typhoon), but then the PAF would have to foot the bill for it. But then again, RWR, MAWS, DRFM, etc, is not new stuff for Leonardo, would it really be that expensive, or is it just the fear of getting milked?

It would be "sure we can develop for you" for a horrendous amount of NRE (non-recurrant engineering) charge, versus look here this is what we have and can demonstrate in your country.

OUR POLITICAL PARTIES (WHETHER RELIGIOUS OR NON RELIGIOUS) MUST HAVE TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF PAKISTANI MILITARY INTERESTS IN DIFFERENT REGIONS

There is a lot more than meets the eye.

I am not here to argue websites and catalogs.

What this love for Italy and it's products misses out on is the fact that the JF 17 is going to be our back bone for the foreseeable future... We need a source which is not going to falter under pressure, not going to change its mind because of lobbying or going to bend over backwards and leave us holding a compromised product.
