What's new

Pakistan and India, both may get SCO full membership

We dont have to make India be our dog against China, since India is already more hostile to/wary of China than even we in the west/U.S. lool Have you even ever been to India?? go on a visit there and see how their media/political establishment talks about China.lool Anything the Chinese do in South Asia or even Asia is a threat to them. And mind you, India still sees us farrrrr more favorably than China can ever dream of.:enjoy: How many times have you seen India protesting/being hostile towards U.S/U.K presence in Indian ocean/Diego Garcia patrols etc??lol they don't because they don't see us as a threat at all, their main threat is China..:enjoy::usflag:

You can keep dreaming/wishing of a non western bloc taking on the west though, its not illegal yet.
No, India will never have the strength to threat China, it is always just like a fly that disgust China. It is the sheep that your westerners foster, and destines your westerners' meat.

Indian media is not a reflection of Indian administration unlike in China where media is state controlled. Indian media will always exaggerate things and even most Indians and Chinese on forum are not a good representation of Chinese and Indians. I don't know about Chinese but Indians are quite positive towards China.
Indians are positive towards China? loool Don't think so, they still regard the West/U.S/U.K/E.U as less of a threat by far than China(which they consider as their main threat along with Pakistan). Surprised you yourself as a South Asian dont know this:pop:

I Guess so my friend.:D

It can, since it has the size and long term potential to do so.:D

Come on.. those are newspaper articles and a random survey that uses opinions from a tiny sample and make a generalization. An average Indian knows that China is light years ahead of India. At least that's the impression I got by talking to many Indians. Just look at how China is portrayed in Bollywood. It's portrayed as a developed country just like West but the same Bollywood presents India as a much much poorer place.

Are we talking about the same thing bro??lol We are not talking about how developed/advanced Indians think/know China is compared to them(which is obvious for now). We are talking about if India(and its political establishment included) views China as a far bigger threat compared to the U.S/U.K/WEST(which India considers as partners). The answer should be quite obvious to you.:pop:

Yes we are and average Indians don't consider China to be a threat to them to be honest. Indian administration is more level-headed than common people. Conflict in between India and China are limited to few disagreements in border. Both sides see that their territory is occupied by the other but only Indian media blows it out of proportion whereas I rarely see India being mentioned in CCTV.

This is from the Pew survey
China’s Global Image
The survey finds that overall ratings for China are mostly positive. A global median of 55% express a favorable view of China, while 34% have a negative opinion.

SCO in real geopolitical practice is dead, because both China/India and Pakistan/India have territory disputes with different geopolitical agendas in mind in Central & South Asia that are unbridgeable.

Formerly SCO was an organisation that could quickly intervene any central asia threat by force with a common goal, without any internal disputes. The SCO was lean but mean militarily with only China and former Soviet armies- both are the A level world-class forces. Due to China´s economic influence in Central Asia, former SCO was essentially a China-captained "SWAT" team that meant what it said serving both China and Russia' s geopolitical interests in Central Asia, mainly answering the potential menace of the direct US/NATO influence or its agents.

Now with the all-around third rate b!tch of the US and UK such as India joining in, none of above is attainable any more whenever geopolitically-oriented real life military actions are called upon. I even suspect top secret papers or decisions will end up on the desk of Pantagon or No. 10 sent by India on the very same day of any important confidential SCO meeting. Hence SCO in reality is dead but remains only in name playing only the trivial role of "anti-terrorist"- small time suicide bombers etc.
It's going to be interesting in the upcoming years.
India was included because Russia want them to be in not China

. .
I think inviting India in is a bad idea that will undermine SCO. Members of SCO should not have any territorial dispute amongst each other, otherwise it would undermine the unity of the organization. With India having active border disputes with China and Pakistan, this is a strategic error. I think China should start formulating another security organization with more selective standards.

Well you are absolutely right. We in the west have always been more expeditionary than any other region/countries out there. Thing is we(as great powers) always think globally, not regionally/locally like most Asian countries do. This is what gives/gave us advantage in dealing with other countries/powers. as we visited/settled in many countries and learned from them(in case they had something we didn't).
However, i will summarize this for two main reasons: Competition and culture

There were at least 6 European states that were capable of mounting trans-oceanic expeditions for some or all of this period in history i.e Portugal, Spain, Netherlands,France, Italy(to a lesser extent) and of course our great Britain. They were all aggressive states often at war and in need of resources. for exampe Columbus shopped his 'sail west to China' plan all over Europe before he got backing from Ferdinand and Isabella (single best VC pay-off EVER). So where the Emperor could shut down expeditions, there was no-one in Europe who could have done that, and plenty of states willing to fund expeditions in search of land and trade.

Further, these societies were all much more warlike than China/Japan/Asian powers. There was a culture of going out and conquering each other and were always plenty of adventurers willing to go off in search of glory and loot (Cortes, Pizarro, Clive) without much interest in what the government wanted. (OUR British 'Empire' in particular had a tendency to grow against the wishes of anyone in London.) Chinese/Asian wars were about control of China/Asia itself, and tended to be much rarer - Europeans had been at war more or less continuously for a thousand years. Indeed a large part of Spanish expansion in the Americas is about the redirection of energies from the recently completed Reconquista. @Carlosa . :D

Finally, China/Asian powers (generalising hugely) tended to see the world as China/Asia, plus a few minor subsidiary peoples (Vietnam, Korea, Japan, etc) around the edges that weren't worth bothering with. So maybe this explains why were sailed round/colonized the globe, while Asian countries/powers mainly limited themselves regionally.:usflag:

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PLAN.:enjoy:

Does Russia envy Chinese influence in Central Asia?

I can easily answer that. Yes, big time. There is a power rivalry in central asia between Russia and China and its a very important issue for Russia.

I will answer further more , China is a economic partner where Russia is security provider to central Asian countries. Chinese have big economic clout over central Asian country and Russian want to balance it between India and china.

I'm saying if we had used your so called strategic ally Russia's strategy, we would have made Hong Kong part of our country, just like Russia did with your vast outer Manchuria which is now part of it's
indisputable territory of Russia.:)

Russia gave you their land? Looool. So
you consider a piece of your land Russia seized and returned you a little piece back after much begging and pressure to be a victory for you?lool. That was just a little sign of 'goodwill' Russia showed you. It's like me seizing your cake and then cutting a little tiny piece to give you as a sign of goodwill then you are all happy/grateful . Lool. A good chess player Moscow is.:p:

UK was not just being nice to give everyone's land back, its got no choice because its weak and not a fraction of what it used to be.

You think you had a choice of not giving Hong Kong back to us? lol.

Russians have no intention of taking any of our land or it wouldn't have gave them back to us in the first place.

SCO is not an union like NATO that target at foreign enemy and group defense.
This union is mainly for internal security and increase economy relationship.
So get members with land disputation will offer another channel of negotiation.
Also China focus more on economy than security concerns on SCO
Ease these countries and make them partner of China by offering security protection and economy trading.

I agree with you our membership will compromise SCO
