Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Will Now Have to Meet These Objectives

Pakistan should consider creating a unified commercial firm for its defence items marketing and exports with its headquarter in Karachi, which would also facilitate marketing of naval productions.

Marketing is key. High end wars are far and few in between, hence the perception of an all round quality product at a fair price is vital to convince countries to commit. Considering the PAF is looking to go for the PL-15, it should not hesitate to use the SD-10 in any future engagement, so PAF can market the kill; even long range kills of a UAV.

The way Sweden markets it Gripen, $/flight hour, all the configurations, and the CGI graphic fielded scenarios makes it easy for a customer to see where their fighter will fit. PAF has an easier job, especially with the JF-17 DCS module available to give to potential customers, and “get a feel” for the plane and its capabilities. The DCS module should be updated for the Block III; AESA, HMD, PL-15, PL-10, IRST, better EW, etc. and let the customers try it out at air shows and arms shows. We don’t even have to bring the plane to these shows half the time. Especially at smaller national shows. We should try to get into as many air shows and arms shows, where our potential customers could be passing through with a simulator and a high quality model of the cockpit (Along with a high quality scale model of the plane)

Everything else is fine but I hope I hope they don't go with AVIC's COMAC program with their partnership from Bombardier. That is an A220 rip off with B737 pedestals and igniters. Saw the cockpit at work a few months ago....

Too bad, they're planning to do just that. Contingent plans for Sukhoi superjet are also being looked into.

Absolutely, please DO NOT put any of the dodo brain dead airforce people in charge. Put technical engineers in charge for complete end to end. Hire good MBA marketing people for sales.

People who go fly in China for $3-400,000 a year tax free have some bizarre stories to tell about Chinese aviation industry.
Literally the upper panels are an A320 copy and they just switched EXT PWR and APU GEN.

A220s are good but the engines are not that good.

    1. Accord highest priority towards increasing the combative capacity of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) by fulfilling their requirements to thwart threats to Pakistan’s air space, borders, and sea frontiers.
    2. Systematically decrease external dependence by undertaking innovative research and evolving a self-reliance strategy.
    3. Increase the commercialization of its defensive products through comprehensive marketing campaigns. By doing so, PAC will not only generate foreign revenue, but it would help to strengthen bilateral military ties with different countries.
    4. Adopt a realistic costing system to make its products more competitive in international markets. For this, it needs to eliminate surplus manpower and logistical channels to decrease the prices of its products.
    5. Continue to provide maximum security to its defense production installations.

2. Or should PAC also pursue other ambitious projects popular in military and non-military markets?

Every venture require investment of precious resources to build and time to mature. Hence PAC must be prioritizing various projects by giving foremost importance to PAF/PA/PN immediate needs.

You cannot make money if you are not willing to spendsome in the first place( you do have to do it wisely though). So PAC will have to increase its profile with a product which is worth the investment it makes into it. This is the way forward as each new product will bring a skill set on board which will broaden our horizons.

Intelligent investment is essential to optimize gains.
Only those ventures must be pursued whose in-country prospects are bright.
Break-even must be met domestically.
Products generally succeed in the International markets which display success in domestic market.
PAC is doing the same.

PAC AMF is currently producing Super Mushshak, and co-producing K-8 and JF-17 aircraft. Its rebuilding factories are providing services of maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) for FT-5, FT-6, A-5III, Mirage III/V, F-7P/F-7PG, Y-12, K-8 and JF-17 aircraft. PAC is also providing MRO services for ATAR 09C, T-56, TFE-731, F-100, J-69 engines and C-130 propellers. Furthermore MRO services for ground base radars are also provided by PAC. Avionics production factories are co-producing number of avionics components including radars used in various aircraft.

Precious resources such as skilled manpower, high tech machinery and tools available in the various factories of PAC cannot be under-utilized.

After meeting the domestic needs, PAC must be exploring International market for opportunities to sell its products and services.

One of the approaches PAC adopted to optimize utilization of its resources, is pursuing of joint-ventures with various aviation manufacturing companies such as Boeing and Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) to co-produce commercial jet-liners.

PAF/PAC continual participation in various air shows, air displays and joint-exercises, production of few promotional videos, one aerial war film and JF-17 model for DCS simulator game are some efforts towards "comprehensive marketing campaigns".

Are these approaches enough and effective????
Or PAF/PAC should be doing more!!!
