What's new

Pakistan, a nuclear power that can't operate a small steel mill?

Unfortunately, Military's main role is border protection and national defence from outside forces.
They do not have training to handle companies

Steeles Mills needs

a) A high calibre Management board
b) Modernization funding for its facility
c) Investment

Which is why government has planned for it's sale and enabling new management to increase its capabilities

Makes sense

steel industry is directly related to industrial production and infrastructural development of any country....Steel mills in developed nations are getting closed or running into huge losses but that doesnt meat those developed countries mostly in Europe cant run the still mills!

In case of Pakistan, I believe this should not be the case since pakistan like india is a developing nation and there is huge demand and scope for industry and infra projects..despite this if any steel mill is running into losses in Pak then reason must be attributed to operational failure!

It is the rot and decay in the basic framework of government working that is responsible for the inefficiency in gov machinery;
  1. Gov still confused about privatisation of national institutions.
  2. Wrong person on wrong posts.
  3. Political freeloaders
  4. No motivation to change for good and no internal mechanism to guage productivity.
  5. Corruption.
On a side note Nawaz gov has done nothing to improve basics of gov depts. The audit is non existent and useless, only Mega corruption is slightly lower but overall not much change. On top of that NAB is under fire from NS. I think Nawaz Sharif is trying to wrestle some ground again with RS on it way home. It is indeed going to be dangerous for the country as Gov has not shown any capacity nor good governance to prove it can handle foreign policy and national security. If he tries to undermine newly appointed COAS as he did with RS the new chief may not be long sighted to let the opportunity go. In short there is no way establishment will trust Pml n government to call the shots on matters of national security.

What corruption have to do with being nuclear power :) actually we manage it very well untill Musharaf.. till Musharaf's rule it was profitable.. then Zardari got his hand on it rest is history..

Then Bharti say why we support military intervention in govt :D

hopefully they will understand now..

Actually the military may not have the training to handle companies but they are at-least smart, sensible and non-corrupt. Look at the reformations imposed during the Ayub regime and how well it worked out.
