What's new

Pakistan a bad investment for U.S.

Ok, I really like that.

And if it is a necessity, how would one characterize US attempts to secure what you say is a necessity?

it's there for everyone to see!! you can go back to the history of US & Pak ties! it's never been anything other than serving US interests in the region. be it during the cold war or now, the so called war on terror. Pakistan is important for US to serve it's strategic interest in this region! now.. this shouldn't be hard for any analyst to analise!

.
ok why not???

Forget about US.... no more Raymond Davis, no more CIA, no more Blackwater/Xe, peace in the north west, hope to see more economic growth instead of burning money fighting other country's wars.

This war has bought only bad economic growth, instability, war in the north west, immense loss of life and to top it all off this is what we get.... a kick in the arse and blamed for their failures.

Pakistan has lost enough!

'poor CIA contractor, Raymond Davis' give me a @$5?ing break

Actually the idea by the author is good. Cut the aid and GTFO of Pakistan, and stop meddling in its affairs.

I wonder then how will Americans/NATO get their supplies into Afghanistan?

Iran????????

U.S. needs Pakistan more than Pakistan needs U.S. :toast_sign:

The US presence in Pakistan will remain as long as the US is involved in Afghanistan. Once they decide to withdraw, they will keep the pressure on Pakistan to fight its share of the battle but I am guessing it will be not as involved as it is now.

Apart from aid, there hasn't been any "investment" of US in Pakistan. Their primary interests still remain in Afghanistan and its resources.

if it's a bad investment get the hell out of here and take all your assets along with you as well thankless people these Americans are !!!!!!!

.
US has invested in few top men and political parties in Pakistan, what has people of Pakistan got in return ????? nothing. more jobless, more tax, extreme inflation , no power or gas, where has 22 billion gone to , oh ya Swiss banks.

This guy Brinkley reminds me of that IIM professor (forgot the name) who once advocated sending stock scammers like Ketan Parikh to Pakistan to wreak havoc in Karachi Stock Exchange. :triniti:

Seems like there's no dearth of lunatics even in well respected places. They best be ignored.

. . .
one question to pakistani members . you guys say you spent 40 billion on the war on terror? since it is larger than your defence budget for the last ten years , how is that possible?
PS honest question not trying to show you guys down . would appreaciate answers. thanks

.
It is high time US should realize this and withdraw from interfering in Pakistan's affairs... don't spend anymore taxpayer money on the wars and aids all over the world and do something to its own economy and create jobs. If it delays the move, it is going to lose out the competitive edge it has been able to command over these years.

As for the Pakistanis, it is upto your govt to measure up what they could have gained out of this relationship and capitalized on this to rebuild their economy ... I would say it was a huge opportunity lost.

$22 billion dollars?

The war with the Taliban has cost us $40 billion dollars. The deaths costs us more, the developt of our country has been stalkled. Before he mentions the donations or funding he should actually do research and find out how much we have soent and lost while taking care of their thrash.

if it's a bad investment get the hell out of here and take all your assets along with you as well thankless people these Americans are !!!!!!!

Have we not entered into this strategic alliance with the common objective of defeating terrorism? Have we not always recognized and appreciate the great nation of Pakistan as a key ally in this war on terror WOT)?

Is it not then in our best interests to remember that the WOT is ongoing? We are constantly witness to the indiscriminate killings, by terrorists, of innocent civilians, our devoted military and government officials. Rather than responding in panic and self doubt should we not show resolve and agree that much more needs to be done to end terrorism? First and foremost, we cannot ignore the fact that Pakistan’s homegrown insurgents need to be defeated and expelled with an aggressive determination equal to that used to drive the Taliban from Swat.

Do not Taliban have our collective blood on their hands? We should honor each other’s sacrifices in the WOT. This logic prevails because we understand the benefits of working side by side!
