Around 12 per cent of the global burden of mental disorders came from India in 2000 and is expected to rise to 15 per cent in 2020, according to the World Health Report-2001.
This must be the 1st post by Windy which is complementary of India. With 17% of Global Population, if India contributes 12% of global burden of mental problems, it means that mental health in India is better than world average..

It has been reported that prevalence of diagnosable common mental disorders in Rawalpindi is 28% and that in Taxilla is 39%. 5 Study in rural Punjab found that 66% of women and 25% men suffer from anxiety and depressive disorders. 6 Emotional distress increases with age in both genders. "
