What's new

Pak Navy able to repel border attack’

Problem is the PN budget
less than a billion

and just 1 active shipyard(2 underconstuction)

if PN budget even crosses 1.5-2billions USD by 2015.than we can get some good vessels than and help building local ship building industry as well

economy is the only factor tht is getting into a new era be it there air force or navy

PN's 2012 budget was 562 million..so much less than a Billion.

Ok I know We recently bought 10 AESA 3D radar's dont know their name ( mention it anyone) which have 400km detection range and altitude of 100,000+ft but since when we have Hq9 , Hq18 and Ft2000 the best SAM we have now is SPADA 2000 on the basis of tech...

the radar you are talking about is the HQ9 & we have them deployed since 2002. but limited to our nuclear facilties only!

highly nonsense post :disagree: ... but in case of war PN can either defend its coast or avoid a complete Naval blockade by IN but never both.. as Most of PN vessels are concentrated with respect to Karachi port which is in the range of Brahmos or any other antiship missile of IN it will become very difficult for PN to survive in a long time war.....

India cannot concentrate all forces on one point...Plus PN and PAF has accumulated a verity of anti ship missiles to avoid a sea blockade by striking the ships...

who said India will concentrate all its forces  only its western fleet is enough and in any Naval war , the main gamechangers are Destroyers which PN operates none at present and not likely for a decade  , remember even single destroyer can bring lots of difference ;) so PN will be definitely in trouble

The Pakistani navy is at a very critical juncture and finds itself facing a vastly superior foe, unlike its air and land based counterparts.

The underfunding or dare I say neglect of the navy has been put down by commentators to the ridiculous reason that Pakistan has a "small coastline". This would be fine in the event of Pakistan not having to rely upon Karachi and the Arabian Sea as a lifeline for the shipping of goods, that are essential for the efficient running of the country. Additionally you also have Pakistan's largest urban population centre there. With this in mind, the building of a strong navy should be imperative.

Folks simply dismiss the idea and state that Pakistan's submarine force can handle everything and all that is thrown at it. Firstly the submarine force has suffered a reduction and just how much can they realistically do? Submarines rely on ambush and surprise, and with the Arabian Sea not being a vast expanse of water this makes the job difficult. Now asking them to aggressively patrol Pakistan's territorial waters, meet incoming enemy vessels, evade the Indian Navy's growing ASW sophistication (P8 Poseidon,Kamorta class corvette) and you can see them being overwhelmed.

The Sub arm is a tool, not THE tool. Pakistan should be building a surface fleet that has sufficient numbers and the capability to deliver strong offensive attack. There are capable Chinese options on the table such as the type 54A frigate. The building of the F-22 corvette is a small but significant step, which now should lead to larger projects.

Why was P-3 mentioned in this? That is a well known issue, and destroyed is the word he was looking for.

you know how our media works......you see a headline b/c a bunch of hooligan journos had a chance to talk to these officials during press time

questions that were asked that are answered are posted in the article, even when there is zero relevance

basically, our media sucks

Pakistan needs to develop these naval bases and move some of their naval asset from Karachi to Gwadar naval base.

And every IN combatant will be armed with a 3 layered missile defence cover. That apart - that post is not far from the truth. It will not be more than a couple of days to put a naval blockade on Pakistan. IN doesnt have to put any ship closer than 200kms of Pakistani coast to put a blockade on Pakistan.

And by 2025, the IN ships already on order will start coming in - and they bring a quantum leap to what IN is now.

The capabilities that IN brings are unparalleled in Indian Ocean bar USN.

lol are you crazy?

See the map kid its Pakistan navy who will block Indian supplies from middle east and other sea routes because today we have quantity as well as quality and in case of attack we have secondary world class port like Gawadar.:D While Indian ships and ports are badly exposed and have no place to hide after destroying their complete infrastructure we will push them to the Bangalore side. :D

Totally agree with you!
PN may station some QUANTITY of their QUALITY ships in safe harbors in bay of Bengal also... maybe chittagong or some other? and then India will be doomed as both the sea routes will be denied. really the top brass in Pakistan ARMY (!!) has already envisioned the future gameplan of PN... that's why PN budget is so less, as there is no need to waste money in inducting new platforms for navy.
And here we all thought PN to be victim of chronic neglect...! :-D
