US gives you 2 billion in aid plus an additional 4 billion in trade which your country needs. Not to forget the foreign currency it brings, it seems you guys run on emotions rather than logic. At least your leaders are not that stupid.

we have come heaps and bound considering it has been only 40 years since our birth, where your country has existed for more than 60 years.

man you are totally dumb who dont know other than what have been feed in your mind...

After going through this thread, a reoccurring topic is how fast Bangladesh is catching up and passing Pakistan. If you do that then congrats but also remember that your country is not in the center of this "war on terror". You are not the subject of terrorist bombings every 2nd day and militants crossing borders and attacking your checkposts. You dont have to support a massive military presence on a line crossing glaciers and valleys. Bangladesh may develop fast and i hope it does but India will always have a significant hold over your country whether you like it or not.
Pakistan in contrast though a South Asian country geographically speaking also has close ties with the region around it (Middle East and Central Asia). It has a far more strategic location and is far less reliant on other countries around it. It is in a far more healthy position to thrive independently granted this so called war on terror comes to an end which it seems will happen in the coming two to three years (at least in this part of the world).

. .
Maulana Azad predicted that soon the fanfare of independence will calm down in Pakistan, two wings will start fighting each other. Other thing he predicted a small country like Pakistan will be a playground of western interfere.
And both came true.

^Bangladesh could have progressed far more if not for political instability, which lingers to this day. And yes, the India factor is there.

You were not lucky enough to milk money from US because of soviet invasion of Afghanistan and war on terror, otherwise you would have left Pakistan far behind.

Bangladesh does receive US aid. But not military aid.

your major textile market has already shifted to Bangladesh of around 40% and since 2008 our growth rate has exceeded your. Its a matter of time we will overtake you economically.

ok let's not pull an Indian now.
A few years of decent growth doesn't mean you are Galactic super power.

And I don't understand why you are feeling so smug, even by your own admittance your economy has only started to beat Pakistan's since 2008. What were you guys doing in the past 40 years?
False pride looks really ugly on you. Please come back to reality and stop taking lessons from Indians on how to put your foot in your mouth.

First Pay the Billions of Dollars you Ate up of Bangladesh Received for Cyclones in 1970.

Why dont you show us some stats so we can understand better.

Which million industry you are talking about? Garments factories which just sewing clothes are not real industry. Besides, did Bangladesh in last 40 years built industries according to its potential? We have been performing much below our potential. So considering injustices we have done to ourselves its hardly any vantage point to point finger on others. That is not to raise debate on Bangladesh independence.

When you are going to do that.

Huh?????????

Which part is difficult for you to understand???

Regarding Pakistan's economy even if it grow at a rate of 6% up to 2050 its GDP will be 4.75 trillion (ppp). Even though under current projection it will likely to grow at much slower rate.

I would like to remind you that by 2050 Pakistan will have population of 350 million and BD will have 220 million. So even if total gdp becomes little higher then Bangladesh ... in terms ofper capita GDP Bangladesh will remain ahead of Pakistan.

N I said Bd lagged behind Pakistan by 40-45 years that is in terms of development as no development took place from 1947-1990 but Pakistan grew most during that time.

Hope all of your question has been answered.

Bangladesh was busy in rebuilding the war torn country that you guys left after 1971. It takes some time to rebuild a war torn country from scratch.

But result and difference has been started to show here.

First Pay the Billions of Dollars you Ate up of Bangladesh Received for Cyclones in 1970.

The damage was worth $185M as per World Bank and even compounding it by 40 years doesn't make it billions ! Most of the international aid comprised of 'food and other essentials' and 'helicopters or ships to be used by the Navies of the donor countries'; now either we ate up all the food or hijacked the ships and the helicopters to be used on the Western Front, they did take a part in the relief efforts ! Then there were numerous Pakistani NGOs like the Pakistan Red Crescent and the Relief Wing of the Jamat-i-Islami who helped in the relief efforts independently of the Government ! The WB drew up a comprehensive plan on infrastructure redevelopment in East-Pakistan and none of its follow ups blamed the Pakistani Governments for diverting funds for anything other then what they had been allocated for ! And yes the ordinary Pakistani donated money too; my Grandfather was in Dhaka at the time with the MES and he and his colleagues donated half a month's salary to the Pakistan Red Crescent and called in for more aid in the form of 'food and essentials' from back home and so my Grandmother from over here sent whatever clothes, some of our camping tents and tinned food that we could find - Not much but certainly not the callousness that these Ultra-Nationalist accuse us of ! As for the Pakistani Government they messed up...they messed up severely but that was more due to an underestimation and an underappreciation of what had happened then out right malice; my Grandfather a structural engineer by Profession was shifted from the Cantonment construction and maintenance that he was tasked with to whatever disaster management that his 'unit' could do and even he admits that they misjudged the enormity of the event massively and it wasn't until the British and the Americans had sent their Helicopters along with the few Pakistan already used that they were able to conduct an aerial survey of the devastation caused and think up a proportionate response ! So yes if negligence and a proper estimation of what happened is a punishable crime then do punish the lot of us but tis also true that the Awami League blew this out of proportion for purely political purposes !

Look BRO, only Bafoons/Bangla Brava doers compare PAK with BD as they don't realize it's not apple to apple comparison. Geo-Strategic, problematic, people's classes are completely different, so playing fields aren't similar. Thus no comparison to start with, IMO. And evils vehemently push through this argument only for cashing ulterior motive.

aazidane, you are going off topic. Jinnah represented the Muslim leadership of Western provinces and East Bengal. East Bengal Muslim leadership wanted Pakistan as much as Western provinces leadership, Jinnah was the visible figurehead who decided to take up the cause. Jinnah was in Congress for 2 decades working with Gandhi trying to achieve Hindu Muslim unity. Only after the intransigence of Hindu leadership, he got tired and left for London. Later he came back to take up Muslim League leadership.

Muslims were 25% of British India population, they could not foresee that they would have 40% or even become majority if they waited long enough. So we cannot blame these people for thinking and taking decisions the way they did. They had a reality which is hard for us to imagine.

Jinnah also started to recruit Bengali's in Pakistan Army, I think if he was alive for another 10-15 years, Pakistan would not break.

About Urdu, Western wing accepted this language which is not their mother tongue, why we could not? What is so special about Bengali? Now West Bengali's are fluent in Hindi, which is very similar to Urdu, so they can assimilate better with other parts of India.

Fact is we, East Bengal Muslims, separated from British India using two nation theory and then we took up Bengali nationalism to separate from Western wing. We should never have adopted Bengali nationalism, that was a betrayal to the original cause of partition, the two nation theory. India engineered this betrayal using its agent.

I personally believe that partition was a mistake and breaking of Pakistan in 1971 was inevitable, due to distance and the great Hindutva master strategists sitting in the middle, creating RAWamy traitor agents to push their agenda. But why bring all this up.

We have to analyze history to understand the geopolitical mistakes we made, so we can avoid similar mistakes in the future. But this is not the thread to discuss this. Please create another thread or choose one of the existing threads on these issues to discuss this.
Absolutely right. What Is In Bangla, that you can't accept urdu like western wing as a state language ,realy very strange !! About State language we have to remember there were several provincial languages but it was only urdu & bangla which was accepted as an official language of Pakistan. So what crime other provincial languages have done that they even can't be select as an official language !! us waqt logon ko yeh yaad akhna chahiye tha k ," Insaan apne mulk ke govt, leaders se jung kar sakte hai magar mulk ke khilaf hona ek zurm hai ......."our yeh bangal ny kia .yahan pe kuch log hai,jo history ko na samajhkar hi bol rahe hai bhot kuch.requesting them first know the history.and yes,Bangladesh have not to be support the enemy RAW,India. We have to support pakistan as it was our country. and like kalu_miah i'll also love to say,"We have to analyze history to understand the geopolitical mistakes we made, so we can avoid similar mistakes in the future.":pakistan:
