What's new

Pak Army gains excellence in IT

What?? you dont have that already???
Wake up ! Its 2010 now and not 1991.

I think you do not even understand what the term "Cyber warfare Unit" means.

We do have what in your Mind is an CWU but we don't have what a proffessional would describe as a CWU.

At the Moment None of Ind/Pak seem to have them but i am aware that USA / Russia / China / NATO do have their CWU's.

Thanks:pakistan:

One thing more, The system has Quran (English, Urdu translation, Tafseer), all famous Hadees Books, all news papers and many more things to offer to the Employs.

Yeah Yeah, we know India is number 1 in every field, A 2 Z, while Pakistan is in stone age. Thanks for reminding it to us.

Sir,

I'm not saying No. 1 etc., The arrangements of US, even China are more widespread and on large scale.

Still we have arrangements, and surely if one compares with Pakistan.

I was referring to the friend "Black Blood", when he was saying we have not any.

And, who says Pakistan is in stone age. We all have some stronger and weak points.

India is good in IT and its a known fact. So, we are using our strength to safe guard our interest. That's it.

Also, we have a cyber army to take care of, to defend and attack at the same time.

I guess you get my clue.

Thanks

Just putting thousands of COBOL programmers “experts” round the clock is not the solution. To help build the cyber experts require quality and not quantity.

I hope you are aware that one needs expertise and training in security technologies for Infrastructure protection in the following areas.

Network Security
Firewalls – Firewalls specialist
NIDS – NIDS specialist
Network design - Network design

System Security
System installation and configuration – System administrator
HIDS (system monitoring, integrity checking) – HIDS specialist
Authentication – Authentication specialist
Auditing and logging – System auditor
System programming – System coder

Application Security
Application installation and configuration - Application administrator
Application design and development - Application developer
Data encryption - Encryption specialist

Organization Security
Security policies - Policy writer
Disaster recovery planning - Disaster recovery planner
Incident handling - Incident manager
Forensics - Forensics officer
Auditing - Auditor

Other
Security monitoring - Surveillance crew

Regards

Good going PA. This is nice step and this will increase productivity.

They have started appointing IT/Telecommunication graduates. They are called ICTO (Information and Computer Technology Officers) and are directly appointed as Captain, they will perform under signals. My friend told me that currently they are at Corps level. The first batch will pass out from PMA this April. :pakistan:

Signals and EME graduates have to only spend a year or so in PMA and pass out as captains since they have already spent a good 4 years in getting their engineering degree.
This has been going on for quite some time and is nothing new.

Coming back to the IT branch of Army, it is something new and slightly different though the courses are run in Signals College.

It is different because young officers in the fighting arms with field experience have also been selected for relevant engineering courses and are graduating and being inducted as IT specialists.

Overall the Army is now more information technology centric, networking and integration is top priority these days.

thats true but the point I was trying to make was, this new batch is not one formed out of the EME cadets or the signal ones... these are selected (as the usual long course dudes, the ISSBs and medicals) n then they have to go through an interview in front of a board formed by GHQ n then attain 6 months training at Kakul.

I now that because I was the part of first batch but I was late for PMA hence am supposed to Join PMA this May with the GDMOs.

I am familiar with initial batch of officers who are converting to this arm from infantry, artillery etc.

I guess this will be done with dedicated batches of cadets as well, makes sense but i had not heard of it before.

I guess congratulations are in order to you for qualifying...now the harder part begins!
Is it technical graduation first and then a short PMA tenure like EME or Signals Officers?
