Just pure hilarious...
Even if it's a mock, i think it's a positive and good thing, no doubt. the goal is to raise awareness and to have fun. so celebrating ure culture is a good thing in my books.
It's just another urban vs rural class divide not racism. Agreed with the rest of your post. I think this event can become constructive if appropriate measures are taken to turn this into a cultural festival of a sort and presenting various cultures that exist in Punjab.Paindoo means a resident of a pind. Pind means Village.
Celebration of a stereotype Of course we Lahoris term all non-Lahori Punjabis as paindu. Assi tay shehr de loki aan...
In any other country, this would be racism. Also there is a signficant rise of stature amongst the paindoos too. Quite a few of them have gone through unis and are genuinely more hard working than the rest of us. Way back, paindoos would hide the fact that they come from a pind and would associate themselves with the closest city, nowadays the statement "Main tay nira paindoo aan" is said with pride most of the time.
This is just a bunch of burgers with no sense and obviously mocking the less fortunate paindoos. Also whats up with Lums, its a prestigious education university, but it seems like there is some party or the other going on over there all the time.
