PAF fighter aircraft crashes near Quetta

QUETTA: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter aircraft crashed near Kuchlak, outskirt of Quetta, on Wednesday morning due to a technical fault. The pilot sustained minor injuries.

“The fighter aircraft on operational training mission crashed after it developed a fault. The pilot planned a successful ejection and was safely airlifted,” Air Commander Tariq Mehmood, spokesperson Pakistan Air Force, told The Express Tribune.

The Air Headquarter has ordered an inquiry into the incident to determine the exact cause of the crash.

“The aircraft crashed in a vacant area and there was no loss of life and property in the area,” he said.

Karachi: A fighter jet of the Pakistan Air Force crashed in the restive Balochistan province on Wednesday due to a "technical fault" but no casualty was reported, the second such incident in two weeks.

The jet crashed on the outskirts of provincial capital Quetta.

A spokesman for PAF said the pilot ejected safely before the aircraft came down.

"The fighter aircraft was on a routine operational exercise when it crashed due to a technical fault," said Air Commander Tariq Mehmood.

"The aircraft crashed in a vacant area and there was no loss of life and property in the area," he said.

The Air Headquarter has ordered an inquiry into the incident to determine the exact cause of the crash.

This is the second incident in two weeks where a military aircraft has crashed around Quetta, the capital city of the troubled Baluchistan province.

On September 20, a trainer aircraft had crashed in Loralai near Quetta in which two pilots were injured.

Just been told by PAF the aircraft that was lost was an F-7PG from No. 23 Sqn and the pilot Flt Lt Saad, was able to eject and has only minor bruises.

Why are we having SO many crashes, surely there is something wrong with our maintenance infrastructure and personnel. These types of incidents are springing-up far too often are they not?
