KSA will soon sign the biggest weapon deal of all time with the US.. it might put some pressure on the latter to sell a few squadrons of its used F-16 with a squadron or two of the V Blk to Pakistan..
The question to ask is ... If you can induct a decent fighter for relatively little in cost, especially long term maintenance cost, why won't you do it?
It may be because of this lower cost option that the PAF can invest in a 5th gen today. Otherwise, it may require a bigger 4.5 gen fighter to support the JF-17, which in turn can eat into funds for the 5th gen.
I was referring to the F-16 Block-52+ jets the PAF tried buying in 2016. That said, if the F-16C/D Block-25/32s sitting in AMARC can be had under EDA (i.e. for the cost of dusting them off), the PAF might have a great shot at good jets. TAI and LM are working on replenishing those types (specifically Block-30/32) - another 4,000 hours plus an AESA radar, updated avionics, new EW/ECM, etc, could be had for under $30 m a plane, potentially. These already old(Danish inducted F-16 at the same time as PAF in 1980's) and their service has been on baltic and north sea, so you think they would save on maintenance, or they would take more as compared to current fleet of PAF? old and vintage machine is more difficult to keep in mint and running condition.
And they would remain in RDAF till 2025, so much time left on them.

I'm talking about the ex-USAF Block-25/32 ones sitting in AMARC. The TAI-LM study to replenish those airframes makes these a decent option, especially if paired with the F-16V or Turkish F-16 upgrades (i.e. AESA radar, updated avionics core, HMI, etc). If there's a concern for numbers, then using the platform for which there's existing infrastructure makes the most sense - adding more F-16s is seamless. If there was a way to affordably build a large fleet of medium-weight fighters, it'd be via the F-16.Isn't AMARC ones been gone to USN for aggressor training?
F-16 MLU or b-30s would be just to make numbers, A2A against MKI or super MKI they might match, but how much will it impact outcome is uncertain, because of number advantage, the b-52s against rafales would be even more tough.
That is what they ask, and we did not buy.. because in that time we were not in honeymoon period with Americans, and this is in our establishments blood that we never play our cards right, so i am hoping for the best there are things happening in the region that shows that US needs Pakistan , to tackle the Afghanistan bloody civil war .. Taliban are controlling 60% of Afghanistan with ISIS gaining grounds .. sooner or later Taliban will start attacking Kabul with even much more intensity ..and if ISIS defeated in Syria and Iraq , Afghanistan will be their new home , and Afghan Taliban will be the only force that can defeat them on ground .. and we both know we can still put some connections inside Afghan Talib to create a counter force .
F-16 can be done its not hard .. and i am pretty sure you will see more F-16 new/used soon enough
This is an ignorrant post or one from a false flagger. Mods please investigate. Ther is enough of an account regarding Kargil dilema for PAf for you to be saying this. So what is your motive here?We know how superb f-16 was when they could not took a flieght against mig 29 in kargil war. And indisn airforce thrashed our soldiers and we were watching them die. They cant even took a flieght against migs so it will be a joke that they can take on Su 30. And here comes rafale. Chalo chalo afghanistan chalo
so when are you going to stop 'thanndi aahein bharna' for M2K or will it remain a life long obsession.. I mean love..Hi,
The problem is not with the " Love "---the problem is in asking the girl to get laid.
That is a pakistani problem---" silent love "---. ( Thandi aahein bhartay rahay )---that is what Paf is---.
And this example is really close to me---a near and dear---got screwed up by a beautiful woman---and exceptionally beautiful women---one day he came across me---I told him---you need to bring your standards down a tad bit---.
Life still needs to progress and you need to settle down---he listened to what I said---now close to 20 + years---he has a happy family and a wonderful life---and that beauty---she is old and rustic and still single in a miserable life.
If paf had not received the F16 and bought the M2K's initially---they would have been singing the M2K song all along---.
There is an old saying " anyone can have a beautiful woman---but not everyone can keep a beautiful woman "---.
Just because it was tailor made for you---did not mean you needed to hold the strength of the nation back by not getting anything else.
Hi,
Nations fortunes are not built upon ifs---buts---when---.
