The U S wants close to $90 million per aircraft for the BLK52 and no aesa.

That is the cost of the fighter plus the standard maintenance support package (usually 10-15 years via FMS). You would basically split the cost into two parts - $45 m for the flyaway cost of the fighter (which needs to be paid soon) and $45 m for the after-sale maintenance (which you could spread over term payments).

So it's $90 m for the Block-52+ versus $300-325 m for the Typhoon/Rafale, $250 m for F-15s or Super Bugs, $150 m for the Gripen NG, etc.

Sale price has other taxation. Fly over cost of f16 these days would be around 50-60million at least or more
F35 pure flyaway cost is around 100million without engine but R&D isnt included in this

And also---many a times I have stated---" time is the ultimate enemy "---Paf has utilized the time very badly---.

oh yeah good catch , i missed that news sharing to Blue merlin ... but regarding adding another platform is complicated , set-up , training time , induction , and make strategies .. what many members here are afraid is IAF future Rafale but they forget its not that they get their first batch in 2019 and in 2020 they are mastered in this Craft .. PAF has mastered every thing F-16 has, adding more will be a stop gap and some can be use for Spares (Agreed) , but its the quickest way for PAF to keep the IAF at bay, while we work on block 3 JF ..we can't spare much money but budget is coming , and lets see if PAF and NAVY gets a bigger cut this time .. Fingers crossed

KSA will soon sign the biggest weapon deal of all time with the US.. it might put some pressure on the latter to sell a few squadrons of its used F-16 with a squadron or two of the V Blk to Pakistan..

J-31 is not coming post 2020 ... and than another 5-8 years to completely induct it and master it , and buying these new F-16s will at least make sure we have something to take care of our air space until J-31 is ready .. and by the way, most likely F-16's will be replace by TF-X from Turkey from 2025 afterwards ..and j-31 will/can be JF-block 4

That is what they ask, and we did not buy.. because in that time we were not in honeymoon period with Americans, and this is in our establishments blood that we never play our cards right, so i am hoping for the best there are things happening in the region that shows that US needs Pakistan , to tackle the Afghanistan bloody civil war .. Taliban are controlling 60% of Afghanistan with ISIS gaining grounds .. sooner or later Taliban will start attacking Kabul with even much more intensity ..and if ISIS defeated in Syria and Iraq , Afghanistan will be their new home , and Afghan Taliban will be the only force that can defeat them on ground .. and we both know we can still put some connections inside Afghan Talib to create a counter force .

F-16 can be done its not hard .. and i am pretty sure you will see more F-16 new/used soon enough
