PAF Chief chosen by US?

I was watchin Policy Matters last night on samaatv and Javad Chaudhry Express News Anchor said a very interesting thing. He said that before Rao Qamar became Chief of PAF there was another candidate for the post, his name was Shahid LAtif and he was incharge of JF-17 programme, he was widely tipped to be the next air Chief but due to AMerican pressure, US didnt want him to be, they favoured Rao Qamar, Mr Qamar eventually became PAF Chief.
Is there any truth to this story and if yes, is our command struture that influenced by outside forces that we cant we chose a Air Chief on merit but on what US says, doesnt this weaken the airforce by creating divisions and doubt within the airforce?

Think about it..
PAF and PN chiefs were selected by Zardari so then what do you expect? But I dont believe they are anti-pak agents its just that they are more "YES Sir" towards government policy.

The reason Rao Qamar was chosen was because he does not question authority..

Any one who is Air Marshal has all the abilities to be ACM, so it was President's choice to select so he selected the third one.

Im not sayin they r anti pak (Rao Qamar has done a great job since coming to power), wat im asking is tht for example if I am a PAF pilot, and see 1 person working really hard for PAF in this case the JF-17 programme, then i want him to lead the air force, but suddenly someone else becomes the Air Chief, tht would be a huge disappointment and might even affect the pilots morale and cause divisions amongst the ranks
