By the way PAF under the leadership of so called American appointed Air Cheif is trying to decrease it's dependency on American hardware and AC's. Sh!t bad "appointment" by USA.

You think Air Chief selection is merely so that PAF can buy US equipments?

Guess what, who chose the president then? and a more intriguing question is; during Musharraf's tenure, who killed Musaf Ali Mir and the cream of PAF in Kohat incident? When the US presence in the region were on the peak - allotment of Pakistani air base and drone strikes?

In a nutshell, in todays time, Reality and Appearance is always opposite to each other and damn we got to live with that.

The president was chosen by the senate constituency and PPP supporters.. after the actual PPP stalwarts were pushed aside.. The establishment chose to comply because it was inappropriate for the Military to say anything right after giving up power.
Some considered Aitizaz ahsan for the slot.. but he lacked popular PPP support..and he was seen as too radical considering his tirade against Musharraf..(I would have liked Kurd.. he would have looked nice next to the Indian president then )

Mushaf Ali Mir's Crash was the result of the pilot trying to showboat his skills to the Chief..
He wanted to do a low pass through the Kohat approach..and in his mistake took a lot of valuable lives.

The US presence was allowed by Mr Musharraf..
Shamsi was given to the US for drone flights...others for logistical support..in return.. both these "almost" FOB are now well developed bases with state of the art infrastructure.. better than any other base.
Drone strikes are approved internal policy.. they are the best asset for time critical strikes...they are denounced publicly here for the consumption of the anti-American masses.

let us grow out of this america everywhere mentality..if such was the case they wouldn't be dependent on our co-op for WoT. Americans cant appoint a right chief for themselves..General Stanley McChrystal comes to mind..

We are only too aware of how the Americans took the extension of Army Chief's tenure, which should kill any wild theories of the US influence. There is no doubt that Shahid Latif was next in line to become Air Chief, I raised this question to Alan Warnes while discussing his book on PAF, interestingly, Alan Warnes also queried this dilemma with some senior PAF officers, who as stated earlier disclosed his serious medical condition rendering him unfit to the top post. It is indeed sad case of events that this high caliber officer was unable to lead from the front.
