PAF AW-139 getting ready in italy

How many a times an Mi-17 full of soldiers has gone down in PAF history to justify having 14 AW139 helicopters? And why not send another Mi-17 to do the job? Why do you need and AW139? So lets not justify using the wrong arguments for wrong reasons

Be specific? Plenty of times when & where, how many casualties? And yes Mi-17's can be equipped with SAR ops, Russian forces use Mi-17 for SAR ops as its not rocket science!

Mi-17 crashes in Pakistani service are all counted for on this forum, so you can dig around for those or just google. There are plenty of them with pretty high casualty rates. And no PA/PAF Mi-17 is equipped for SAR, there must be a reason why given that we have operated Mi-8s and Mi-17s for decades, long before AW-139 showed up. As to why one platform is better for a particular role than others, you can try to find yourself.

The fourteen are, as far as I know:
17-001 to 17-004
18-005 to 18-014

Twelve of these have been delivered. Last delivery took place on 19 November. Two need to be delivered of this batch (I think 18-012 and 18-014), I expect them soon.

So far, I have noted AW139 crews with patches of the following units:
82(CS)sq
84(CS)sq
88(CS)sq
In the process, their tasking is now referred to as 'Combat Support SQN' instead of Rescue SQN or SAR SQN.

So far 12 AW139 delivered or in process to PAF. Army has taken or ordered 10. Navy nil.
