PAF at Zuhai Airshow 2016

As for J31 despite J31 is produced by different organization as compared to J20, but it is a common norm in defense sector that domestically despite competition they do cooperate with each other. So if J31 has some shortcomings they shall be resolved in near future. Even Chinese have shown the world that they can do wonders. There Unis/Research institutes are now counted in top ranking institutions of the world.

If and when need arises the J31 shall be ready in no time either for Pak or any Arab country. (As USA is reluctant to export F35 to some Arab countries).

Can anybody confirm what happened with integration CM400AKG with JF17, as so far only CM802 AK is exhibited with
thunder.

Pak now with production of block-iii-JF17 should integrate some game changing ammos like CM400AKG,CX01, HOBS WVR, and PL-15 to counter next gen IAF fighters.

CM-400AKG is already in operation, confirmed via interviews and a while back someone posted the budget/procurement list for PAF ammunition which had 50 CM-400AKG, along with SD-10s & PL-5s in it.

PL-10 HOBS seems very interesting and should be the next integration on the Thunder in my opinion but the will be only useful once Helmet mounted sight is incorporated so likely will be a development for the anticipated Block-3.

Another interesting revealed item is the YINGS-3 pod which is China's equivalent to the US Sniper targeting pod PAFis very fond of on its F-16s.
A variant of the YING-3 was shown in the JF-17 armament display.

"The latest entry to the YINGS III family is the Model 330, which weighs 230 kg and appears to draw heavily from Lockheed Martin AN/AAQ-33 Sniper advanced targeting pod (ATP) with its swept/faceted transparent sapphire fixed-shroud nose configuration and lightweight, aerodynamic structure which is designed to improve stability at high speed flight."

J31 should only be brought in the paf colors provided it has maximum possible commonality with jf17. Engine... pods... weapons... and if possible same base model of the radar leading to some commonality in maintenance.
If this is ensured then whether plaf buys the jet or not.. paf should consider it. It is poised o be a good aircraft and all it needs is a proper and strict developmental program

Sniper is 199kg and far slimmer and aerodynamic and full HD capable 1024 x 1024

Compared to Ying 390 (280kg) which i think is WMD-7 , this Ying 330 dropped 50KG which is a lot and more aero dynamic

Specs not available so not sure if its HD

This is the best JF-17 performance yet..

the simple thing issss.....Pakistan doesnt need J-20....its too much for our requirements.
Pakistan might need it to void any air superiority of an adversary, it is designed primarily to destroy, refueling tankers, logistics convoys, AWACS and much more..hence a squadron will be very useful..
J-31 is designed for SEAD and BVR..

fuel space is not taken up....overall jet has been enlarged a bit...

Thanks for the pictures. I don't know but something about the wing and tail planform of the first prototype always looked off to me. This looks much better.

The cropped edges of the lifting and control devices should take care of any flutter and buffeting problems found in testing (though they will probably add to the rear-aspect Radar Cross-Section). Fuselage looks cleaner and seems it might add slightly more body-lift as well.

Cockpit and front fuselage look stealthier. But the most exciting thing is the tail. The first prototype in its flight demo was always going on the burner to keep the nose up. The new horizontal and vertical tails look like they will provide more pitch-control authority.

I have always felt that the FC-31 was designed more for the PAF which seems to dislike (rightly in my opinion) extra-large fighters and also has not much love for canards.

Allah keep everyone safe.

Why do they take so long to retract the landing gear? I would love to see a vertical climb with fully retracted landing gears.

Looks like the WMD-7 is HD as well on the TV channel
