PAF acquiring two King Air 350 ISR aircrafts

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: Contractor shall provide training to approximately six (6) Pakistan Officers between July-Oct 2010 at contractor locations in CONUS in accordance with (IAW) objectives to provide necessary skills to PAF aircrew personnel to support their flying mission. Training shall be based on standard off-the-shelf commercial configured King Air 350 (Proline 21 cockpit). Contractor-provided training will be initial type training to include pilot enrichment courses. See attached AF Form 1449 for complete requirement.

JUSTIFICATION

The Pakistan Government purchased two specially modified King Air 350 aircraft under FMS case G2-D-SAH and pilot training is being purchased through AETC CONS/LGCI. The Pakistan Air Force would like all pilots to receive the same training, to include a level "D" full motion simulator equipped with the Proline 21 avionics package. An extensive internet search resulted in three (3) companies that currently operate a level "D" full motion King Air 350 simulator: FlyRight Inc. located in Concord, North Carolina, CAE in Dallas, Texas, and FlightSafety in Wichita, Kansas. Only FlightSafety's Level "D" simulator is equipped with the Proline 21 avionics package.

Why not Army Aviation take delivery of these, Army is already operating a number of turboprops like Y-12, Jet Propcommander, King Air B200 and 350 (ISI). under Army, it will make liaison and coordination much easy then being on interservices basis.

PA is currently using helicopters in the role of SIGNIT operations.

Officers & soldiers of Signals corps mostly fly in these helicopters equipped with signals intelligence equipment and perform operations over the tribal areas where required.

Paris Air Show: ISR King Air 350 offered for export

In the wake of the US Air Force's (USAF's) first MC-12W 'Project Liberty' operations, L-3 Communications' Integrated Systems Group and Hawker Beechcraft used the Paris Air Show to announce a teaming agreement to promote a similarly configured aircraft, known as the ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) King Air 350, on the international market.

Displayed with a mocked-up ventral sensor pack, which includes the L-3 Wescam MX-15 sensor turret, and dorsal satellite communications 'dome' (but no internal sensor stations), the King Air 350 is being promoted to other operators requiring manned ISR capabilities. A sensor payload of up to 28,000 lb (12,700 kg) would allow six hours endurance on station.

With the USAF committed to 31 aircraft (and an option for a further six due to be confirmed in July), L-3's Allison Hartley indicated that domestic procurement could rise to 75 aircraft. "We see a considerable market for this type of aircraft," she said, suggesting a total of 150 international sales, worth a potential USD2.5 billion (including support). Iraq and Pakistan are slated to be lead-in customers amongst others in the middle-east and asia.

Looks like a good addition to our airforce's capabilities

It would have been better if the technology was Transfered :P but its still good

8 Awacs & 2 king air and P3 Orions have really helped us have edge vs Terrorist they can't escape now from land / air or sea routs ....

Its a good thing

If we have the UAV we could engage them as well :rolleyes:

^^can some one tell us whether these King-Airs are going to replace the Falcon-20s in service with the PAF.??? or were the latter just ECM a/c.

Sir DA-20 is specifically made for electronic warfare and also has a SIGINT capability as well. If I am not wrong, before the 3rd DA-20 was delivered to PAF in 2004 both the aircrafts went to France for a minor upgrades.

At one point, and if I remember correctly, PA was operating a pair of OV-1 Bronco's with a side looking fixed radar for battlefield survailance etc.

Does any one knows what happened to these a/c's?

yes @azad pakistan..! pakistan is need of some new technology in heavy lift aircraft..! i also favour a few heavy lift helicopters like the sikorsky seaking aircrane..! but it is currently only being used by the pakistan navy..!
