Owen Wilson on getting serious for new film 'No Escape'

.
yes, you're right its cambodian. thanks for the clarification bro. as for the savage depiction? just the carnage showing in that film --- its trying to , implicity i admit, portray that underneath the veneer of calm , there is still deep seated hatred and brutality --- from the murdering scenes i take from the film.

the film an ingenious role in discrediting southeast asia's calm and development.

thanks bro.

It may upset the Cambodian people but surely you cant generalise it as casting a bad light on ALL southeast asian people...well it portray the Vietnamese side as humane so that contradict Zunxi’s “analysis” which proved that he haven’t even seen the movie or that he is a bit low on the critical thinking side.

.
I did not call you a hypocrite for talking about Vietnam, I called you a hypocrite because last time you call me out on stalking you for saying "If something that does not related to you, you should not commented on it"

ROFLMAO!

yes, you have a point, bro. thanks.

lol, although I am not a keen supporter of YouTube movie, it's nice that you can get it on youtube, officially, you should do what I do, get the DvDs.....

I don’t know why people buy DVDs, you just watch a movie once, or twice, then forget about it. So for me its a waste of money to buy DVD.

I’d rather save that money to buy audio CD cos they are cheap now and you get the high quality audio to play again and again.

I used to torrent movie but now youtube is much more convienient.

when i saw this movie months ago with some of my friends (some of my friends were white, some blacks, and a hodge podge of asian-americans), the non-asians in my group of friends said something rather callous during our post-movie dinner at a local chinese buffet, "yo, you asians are crazy!"

Well then you should have said “yo, I’m Vietnamese, and our soldiers with the flawless english skills saved your owen’s assss!”

I don't do that bro. I'm not that confrontational in person. Unlike other people , i rarely like to get into fights or arguments.

. .

I don't understand what is so funny to have laugh you arse off?

I start a post discussing a movie with 2 Vietnamese member, I did not have anything said other than how the actor prepared for the role and how the movies goes.

Then you and the other 2 dude, quite obvious have not actually saw the movie and started to put the discussion into how "Savage" the Vietnamese being portrait even tho the very first post I have already said it was hinted at Cambodia, and how the sweet American family fight thought all the uncompassionate people just want them dead, which weren't even in the movie.

I never understand why and what motivate anyone to discuss a movie without actually seeing it, that's one, then you accused me for stalking you and reporting some post that is not addressed to me, and while you barge in and lend your support to a thread that you have no clue about. If this is not hypocrisy, then what is?

Well, probably they are location specific, I usually buy DVD as Blu-Ray movie would take me quite a while to download. I can simply pop down to a supermarket, and rent or buy the DVD in an automatic Kiosk and I can go home and watch it.

I usually just download TV series as they are 300 or so mbs per episode, A Blu-ray movie would set me down 2 to 3 Gig data....

Plus, we do actually enforce the piracy thing overhere. in fact, the whole ISP was just sued by some Movie company for allowing user download illegal movie....

Thats why its better to watch it from youtube, less risk getting caught. Most hollywood movie gets taken down by youtube but the Vietnamese (or other non-english people) upload them with Vietnamese titles so the copyright nazi usually cant pick it up.

Also youtube has the google cardboard option and its more fun watching on that while lying down relaxing...especially for horror movies or japanese videos.

Just sharing their views, i guess, bro. It wouldn't be fun if we all agreed to everything, right?

LOL

Wrong, we must all have the same view on everything. Thats what chairman Xi said. If you deviate, I’ll block your social media account!

This post alone show that you have not watch the movie.

There are no jungle setting for the whole movie, not even the last 2 minutes shown in this post, which was in a riverbank.

You do know the whole movie is shot at Ching Mai in Thailand, right?

As I said, you have no idea what this movie is talking about eh?

No, this movie is not "Hollywood " attempt to portrait of a lovely American family trying to escape the "Savage" south east Asian uncompassionate jungle people. One of the plot of the movies (Why Brosnan wanted to save Owen's family) is EXACTLY the opposite of what you just said. When Pierce Brosnan said to Owen Wilson character that he is the one that responsible for the revolution by forcing the Government to build the water plants, and thus forcing the hand of the protraited government.

LOL, through out the movie, we see from the local hotel worker who died for the Owen family, then the officer worker, then the Buddhist sanctuary caretaker, then the fisherman, where does the movie portrait the "Uncompassionate jungle people you have been talking about?"

Jesus, even if you did not want to see the movie, you should really go look up the synopsis in Wikipedia.

lol after you "SAW" the movie, you completely agree with the aforementioned comment, which none of it were in the movie, except for the rebel, which one of them help Owen and his family up on his motorcycle and saw him even tho they are supposedly "Heartless" and "Uncompassionate" people? Exactly which movie you saw? I don't know which one you saw, but unless you are making your own movie while you are watching this, it's quite obivious you had not watched this movie.

Exactly how hypocritical are you?? Maybe if you have not saw the movie like you said, you should let people who actually saw the movie say something here. That way, you won't waste other people bandwidth. Whatever happened to if you don't want to commend on a thread, don't comment? I did not start this thread to bash China, why you have to come here and ruin my thread by bashing the west and the people of Vietnam and Thailand? (Even this HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MOVIE ITSELF)?

@Cossack25A1 @Hamartia Antidote See how hypocritical our Japanese Friend have become?
This endless cultural stereotype of the local people oust to stop. Show some respect to the local people, for once! Seriously, as anyone who watch this movie, the first thought you have is again, "uh uh, not again, not another movie portraying Southeast Asian as savage, uneducated people with no sympathy". Worse, it portrays a white family escaping from these savage? How come they never make a movie about Christopher Columbus raping the local native in his voyage? Why is it always about depicting the local jungle as savage and White people as a savior?

If it's not about "Me love you long time", then it is about the local aggression toward these "peaceful, loving, Western family". What a joke! What's worse you are telling the people of Southeast Asian should be proud of this! And how the hell is this movie going to promote tourism to that country? LOL

Cool its free to watch on youtube!
LOL how did the movie portrayed the Vietnamese as savage?

The only glimpse of any Vietnamese was at the end of the movie. If anything, it portrayed the Vietnamese soldiers as being humane and sympathetic in protecting the family from the cambodians. So how exactly is jhungary “sitting here telling the Vietnamese to love being portray as savage”?? LOL
To a white audience, you are no different than the Cambodian, Thai, or Laotian. In fact, I must admit I was brainwash by Hollywood depicting Southeast Asian as savage jungle people, thanks to Rambo. LOL

Well, all I can say is, it make you looks stupid to comment on a movie (also to generalize a set of audience) Without actually seeing the movie.

It's makes you look and sounded like a tramp. I mean, if you want to be a bigot about it, I am all for it, but then again, I don't understand the basic necessity to say such things that was totally out of the bound of this particular movie.

If you want to discuss the group of movie you mention, open another thread and put to the top about it, otherwise it is no point, nor will it make you look any good to comment on something you don't really know.

As someone who enjoy many of Owen Wilson's movie like the ones with Jackie Chan i hope making movies will not affect his mental state. Owen Wilson attempted suicide before and having a fellow Australian in Heath Ledger (played the psychopath role in Batman), I hope Owen keeps his mind in a safe place. Heath Ledger was a very talented young man and the role of the movie got to him....

Eehhh this doesn’t even answer my question of how was the Vietnamese portrayed as savage in the movie. LOL

Answer me again, how did the movie portrayed the Vietnamese as being savage when it was the Vietnamese soldiers who were shown to be the sympathetic ones that saved the family at the end?

And in case the audience don’t know their ethnicity, the white family clearly said they are Viet, the soldiers identified themselves as Viet, and there’s even a banner underneath them that said “VIETNAM” LOL. So how did the movie portrayed the Vietnamese as savage again? Are you telling me that with all those signs, you still cant tell if they are Vietnamese? Have I overestimated your intelligence? LOL

If you have made a silly statement because you haven’t seen the movie, then just admit it, no need to beat around the bush. LOL

.
How come they never make a movie about Christopher Columbus raping the local native in his voyage?

that is true. I even saw an American documentary portraying the Spanish Conquistadors in a good light forgetting to mention the countless natives were raped by them. The doc was clearly brainwashing history.
