I doubbt it. Our troops were mostly stationed on the fronts with Serbia and Italy from the slovenian border to the Alpes. There is a passage in the Alpes on italian side which locals call passo Bosniako ( passage of Bosniaks ).. major frontline high in the Alps, which italians never broke. Most decoreted Austro-Hungarian regiment in WWI was 2nd Bosnian regiment. There is a museum in Gratz dediceted to Bosniak soldiers in WWI. then Austrians had problems recruiting Bosniaks at the begining, there were riots, they didnt want to fight under non muslim king. So Austrians turned to the Sultan, then fetwa was issued that its permisible cause Ottoman EMpire was an ally of KuK. Many also left to Ottoman teritory to join its army. Also, special outh was crafted, reffering to Muhamed a.s. and Allah. And we wore differente uniforms, with Fezzez.

I do know of Bosniaks who later fought in Plaestine, mostly veterans of WW1.

Italian front is a very underrated front. Too bad when it comes to ww1 the Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian war efforts are overlooked.

At school we barely learnt ww1 it was basically gallipoli and the western front thats about it. In Australia we looked at the contribution of Australia in both wars. Lets be honest Australias contribution does not even come close to many nations.

Yeah, condition were brutal. I mean, you are fighting high in fricking Alpes.

Under communism we learned nothing about this. About Bosniak regiments, role. It was mostly history from the other, Serbian-Croat side. In Slovenia, on the border with Italy, close to former frontline there is now museum to fallen Bosniak soldiers in WW1. Near the cemetary. Just few year ago, amost after a century, they removed the cross tumbstones and replaced them with muslim ones, with names. And they restored the mosque where they prayed. What allways cracks me up, according to many testimonies from austrian and german sources favorite weapon of Bosniaks was buzdogan. There are few on display in that small town museum

15700 Bosniaks fought at Canakkale. And at that time we were under Austro-Hungarian Rule

Ottomans were late to the Industrial Revolution due to numerous factors.

Japan had it easy because they did not have to worry about wars or the rise nationalism contributing to independance movements their only problem was internal which they easily solved.

Ottomans and their road to industrialisation was plagued with so many problems.

While Britain, France and Germany were going full straight ahead.
