Opinion: Which is the most modern city of South Asia?

Beautiful ..i wish I could live in a city like this.. But how is the climate there? As far as I know many Pakistani cities are extremely hot in summer and extremely cold in winter(just like north India)
Bangalore and pine have excellent weather but they are nowhere close to Islamabad regards to beauty
Islamabad isn’t hot..

It’s moderate during summers and rains a lot .. like every second or third day.... it also get hail storms.

In winters .. it snows on the Margalla Hills.

Platform Screen Doors (PSD) can easily fix that problem. Apart from what you’ve mentioned, a third rail looks much less cluttered and is, therefore, easier on the eyes.
You don't need them in OH. And the Third line should be always kept on elevated tracks or better fenced to avoid people crossing. There have been numerous accidents involving third lines and fatalities. And the third rail is not favorable for long-distance tracks that's why Delhi metro uses OH catenaries.

Here Lahore Metro is all elevated tracks and about 4 kms of underground tunnels, and no 'at grade level' tracks, so the electrocution danger is minimal, also as you have said the maintenance on the long run is low. It is now commonly used in China and other countries. Was reading about some deaths due to it as well in north America.

Yes people need to know about the dangers involved here...few people knew about a third rail system, need to be publicised.

Yes Islamabad do have some extreme climate, not that extreme though, winters can be icy cold with temp below freezing in winters, and in summers it can be hot at 38-39 degree Celsius avg. Islamabad can witness snow on the Margalla mountains, but not every year, it rains a lot so mostly that hot waves in summers gets diminished most of the times.

The best thing about Isb is it has got distinct seasons and with different colors of autumn, spring, winters and summers.

I’ve been here in Karachi for almost an year... and man I miss Islamabad weather...

Since I’ve been here .. It’s only rained like 4-5 times and karachiites think it’s somethin of a miracle ...

Apart from the weather, the facilities ... it’s closer to Kashmir ... and murree is like going to another neighborhood.

So only winters are extreme? Glad to know.. For me weather is equally important.. If I were asked whether I would love to reside in any western European city,i would say outright I won't because it's chilly most of thetimes with insufficient sun light.

Islamabad have distinct seasons with different colors of the seasons as well, from autumn auburn and ocher to spring with riots of colors, winters with fallen leaves and denuded trees, and the change and transition from one set of colors to the other is mesmerizing...why, all due to trees and wooded areas, the reason any city need to have a fair amount of wooded areas and more trees.

I was talking about PSDs fixing the problem of accidents involving people falling onto the tracks of elevated metro stations that have a third rail system. Having said that however, from a safety point of view (for example: the unfortunate event wherein someone throws his/herself onto an approaching train), PSDs at all types of above ground and underground stations should be mandatory regardless of whether power is drawn from a third rail or an OH system, IMO.

I think only Dehi and chennai metro has PSD in India.

Though Mumbai Metro has asked for tenders for installing PSD.

This is from orange line METRO Lahore thread from Skyscrapercity.com...

They'll surely install platform screen doors

Benefits of PSDs:
Preventing people from falling or jumping on the tracks,
allowing trains to enter the stations at higher speed,
reducing draught and air pressure caused by trains,
letting platforms be quieter and cleaner,
in hot climate, allowing the stations to be air-conditioned at lower cost,
preventing people from throwing trash on the tracks and thus preventing track fires.

We all know that the least livable and ultra shanty city in South Asia is none other than Dhaka.

But which city is the most modern city in South Asia?

My pick: Gurgaon

Even the BRTs/Metro buses have PSDs.
