One Year of Modi Administration - How Much Has The New Indian Government Actually Delivered?

How will you rate Modi Government's Performance in its first year?

If you look at Modi as PM
1) Modi Marketed him very well during the election campaign (It was more of Modi wave)
2) Modi marketed him very well abroad after his victory (It was more of Modi than the new NDA govt)

My take on Modi Govt

1) He formed the govt when things were pretty bad
2) He successfully managed to change the mood in the country
3) He Successfully changed the mood in the industry
4) Economy growth trend was reversed and brought back to positive (though there is a confusion on the new method)
5) He has good control over the govt which previous govts lacked......

The overall performance was satisfactory/good, and with the given scenario, you cant expect more ........ But the real test is going to come in coming years, as the new policies and its result will start coming and that is when we can start analysing the actual performance........

Failure :

1) Could not stop the idiots of NDA/partners from making idiotic statments, and their comments were discussed more than the actual development.......

Don't get disillusioned, support PM Narendra Modi: Ratan Tata to India Inc - timesofindia-economictimes

For election campaign - yes they do like any other party - though official advertisements through Government of India are more or less the same as in the UPA regime -

As far as the land bill and infrastructure projects are concerned - What the Modi government’s land bill aims to do is make the acquisition of land for infrastructural projects easier by moderating some of the restrictive provisions in the previous land acquisition law of 2013.

Standard Chartered Bank had estimated that if land buyers have to mandatorily obtain consent of 80% of landowners, as stipulated previously, the process would typically take 4-5 years. No wonder then that infrastructure projects worth over $100 billion remain stalled, robbing the economy of millions of potential jobs.

As it is, India is ranked 142nd out of 189 countries in the World Bank’s ‘Ease of Business’ list. Persisting with such restrictive rules would spell disaster for the government’s efforts to kick-start the investment cycle and catapult India to a strong growth trajectory.

Counter with your arguments - don't spark a troll war around - you have that "poor" option for a reason.

wow ! only 4-5 years ? and this is the period of time the corporates use to lay idle after snatching the farmers land via govt. and then they start an altogether different project on that land. no offense, but have you even read the land bill properly ?? India is 142nd because of BABUDOM, not because of poor farmers. No infrastructure has ever given a proper job opportunity to poors. It is just started with sole aim of exploiting the poors. Please go to any big project running near to you and see the status of laborers working there. Does this type of the citizens we aim for our future ???.
Again if you are hell bent on acquiring the only two bigha land of a helpless farmer on your fixed rates for the sake of our country then why not acquire the cement and steel in the same fashion also ?? us gareeb kisan kee marne bhar se India develop ho jayega ???

Majority of that is media fabricated nonsense. News gets reported then 2-3 days later gets taken down.

Of course, India Media.. What do you expect.

While typing that post, i had that in my mind too..... But then you cant blame Media for highlighting statements,If it was bringing bad name to the govt or its efforts, Modi could have done something to stop it ....By the way, you cant discount the contribution of Media on projecting Modi as a massiah in India....... If it was ok then, you cant complain now.....

I agree the Indian media totally blew such things out of proportion but they did not fabricate anything. Certain foolish individuals opened their (considerably large) mouths and made such remarks and for that they need to be held accountable and the PM who is ultimately responsible for all such things deserves to have this on his record under "could do better/do not let this happen again".

In fairness, from what I have heard the PM issued a strong memo to the relevant parties pretty much telling them to STFU and there hasn't been many such statements since...

Modi gained fame through social and alternate media. Modi really can't go around silencing people, think he has enough to do already . Media is well known to take comments out of context and sensationalize them. Media contribution on projecting Modi is close to nil if compared his social media. Its only in the last days and months of the election he started getting some positive news. Otherwise Media was hellbent on naming him the "Butcher of Gujarat".

I really dont think so..... I would say 70: 30 ..... 70 by Media and 30 by social media ....... He has been projected very well by media (rightly so)

Not only that, The way media screwed UPA also helped Modi

Fair enough but many other comments haven't been fabricated. There is no point in being revisionist mate, call a spade a spade. Modi was never going to have a perfect record- that is impossible, at least he isn't proving to be the total disappointment Obama turned out to be.

OH Hell no. The guy was constantly and relentlessly attacked for the last few years until the state elections back in November when BJP won 3 out 4 states. Its only after that he started getting some positive news.

To be fair to the Indian media (who are clowns at the best of times) they are very respectful to the institutions of India and thus whomever is the PM of India gets the respect they rightly deserve-on the whole.

Not saying perfect and not saying there haven't been comments, but its necessary to look at the big picture than concentrate on some dude making comments and making a news out of that for 1 week. Its being given way too much importance than it deserves. Some dude was fed laddu in Maharashtra and that made news for a whole week...

Besides i rated the govt. as compared the the previous regimes ...

That is true, But that negative campaign also helped him by the way........ But his campaign picked up in the last 100 days, and those are the days where he was highlighted by media....

True BUT it is immaterial how irrelevant we (as individuals) feel such comments are. The point is in the world of dirty (filthy) politics such comments are taken, blown up and used to disrupt vital conversations/policies/measures and thus has a very negative affect for India as a whole.

Modi shouldn't be allowing any one associated with his govt to give those losers the ammunition as they can have very unfortunate affects on the big picture.
