One million doses of COVID-19 vaccine from China arrive in Indonesia

Actually I still have my worries about this vaccine (or any new vaccine actually), and is wondering why we seem to be prioritizing the Sinovac vaccine rather than, say the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines... but reading the below article provides some insights of the considerations...

The gov and BPOM (Drug and Medicine Regulator) will still need to fully certify it before beginning the mass vaccinations...

LOL. Sourgraped. They wouldnt want to buy shitty vaccine that need -75 degrees storage and only 5 days validity.
Is any of chinese vaccines approved by China or other countries CDC? Yes or no?

Pfizer and Moderna Vaccine need complex & extreme cold temperatures for storage and distribution.

Especially, Indonesia consists of thousands of island. And honestly some of that islands have poor health infrastructure.
Even many Hospital in big cities, cannot handle and provide such extreme cold temperature for storage.

It will need massive investments for storage only and will become a nightmare for distribution process

Meanwhile Sinovac Vaccine only need 2-8 celcius for storage & distribution. Very easy to handle and doesn't need more investments. Can use ordinary refrigerator

That’s myth and propaganda.
Keeping vaccines -70 Celsius is a certainly challenge but not impossible at all.
Hier mobile fridge made in Germany that can keep vaccines -90 Celsius.

One reason could be that initial production of those German-US and Moderna has been ordered by the few developed countries.

You would have to wait at least one year, Iif lucky.

Second, mRNA is actually not a new tech (onlyrelatively new), but less used so far. I think it is actually cheaper to manufacture.

One of China's five COVID vaccines is based on this.

China's traditional vaccine candidates are very good (Sinochem and Sinopharm) and more available.

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — Indonesia’s government said 1.2 million doses of a COVID-19 vaccine developed by China-based biopharmaceutical company Sinovac Biotech arrived in the country late Sunday.
President Joko Widodo said in a televised address that another 1.8 million doses of the vaccine are expected to arrive in early January.
“We are very grateful, thank God, the vaccine is now available so that we can immediately curb the spread of the COVID-19 disease,” Widodo said.
The government is still waiting for millions of other doses of the Sinovac vaccine to arrive in the form of raw materials that will be further processed by state-owned pharmaceutical holding company PT Bio Farma.

However, Widodo said that emergency use authorization from the country’s Food and Drug Control Agency is still needed for mass vaccinations to start.
Indonesia is already cooperating with Sinovac in phase 3 clinical trials of its vaccine candidate, with tests being carried out on 1,620 volunteers in West Java’s Bandung city since August. The government also looked into partnerships with two other Chinese drug manufacturers, Sinopharm and CanSino Biologics.
Penny Lukito, head of the Food and Drug Control Agency, estimated that the Sinovac vaccine would obtain emergency use authorization from the agency by the third or fourth week of January, after the agency evaluates interim results from the third-stage clinical trial.
Unproven and possibly ineffective according to Brazil. I don't know why they are buying it

At least it's proven safe and effective. Moderna vaccine doesn't need -75. Oxford vaccine can be stored at room temp. Why should we become guinea pigs of CCP

Why don’t you keep riding on bicycle?
Fact is new mRNA vaccine is easier to produce. More importantly vaccine companies can make new vaccines more quickly should the virus change the gnome.

Mrna Vaccine is a genetic engineering product.

Sorry, I will choose Natural organic Tomato for my lovely one, instead of Genetic Engineering Tomato with Artifical vitamin injection.

My family is not Guinea pigs of yankee corporate.

I will use safer and proven method of Inactivated Vaccine from Sinovac for my lovely ones

To be fair, Pzfier and Moderna's mRNA vaccines seems to have greater efficacy (>90%) compared to China's vaccine, which is a traditional vaccine based on an inactivated virus (~80% effective). The mRNA vaccines also take less time to produce.

With that said, Chinese vaccine is easier to transport and store since they don't require significant refrigeration. Pzfier vaccine requires -70C storage while Moderna's need -50C. Sinovac's vaccine only needs about -10C I think for long term storage, and as little as 8C for temporary transport. Also, China's vaccine produce slightly less adverse effect compared to mRNA vaccines.

In short, China's vaccine is more suitable for developing countries that do not have the transportation and storage infrastructure for distribution.
