BD can gain from transit by putting Toll Plaza. BD has full right to toll the trucks crossing its land. in future India and BD can grow better. If BD provide us transit, we can provide Nepal and Bhutan transit and access to BD's ports. BD can generate revenue thru it. Its good move, BD please give us transit..

Plus Myanmar has provided better deal on Transit route, if Bangladesh go for Charging too much from India, Bangladesh may ended up in the loss plus India itself paying for the Akhoura-Agartala rail link.

I am always an advocate of Indian-Myanmar venture. BD can never offer you any cheaper than Myanmar. You should go for it and should be your priority. BD route will be way more expensive even if we go by GATT than Myanmar.

India will sign any treaty with Banladesh not with puppet. Puppets are temporary, and the treaty may come null and void once puppet gone. So you should invest your money rationally.

honestly i dont think this govt is a puppet..as a WTO signatory you are obligated to certain conditions and following them is not being a puppet....

No we are not obliged to WTO rule in this particular case otherwise BD would had given transit the day WTO came into being. WTO never sent us a notice neither India complained to WTO as there is no case.

Sometimes you have to give something to gain something bigger. Its diplomacy. A step forward to strengthen ties with India. Such measures will attract indian companies resulting in job development etc. in future.

WTO rules only permit Nepal to get access to Seas through India. Yes India is obliged. But Nepal - BD route is no way related to WTO. You can charge whatever you want. Its more to do with your relationship with Nepal than us.
