This once again proves that imran khan is very naive and childish, there was no reason for him to personally boost about this drilling and discovery of oil/gas from off-shores. But I am sure he will not learn from this mistake and will keep repeating this type of over-hyped shenanigans in future too.

We should wait a week to hear the official announcement, but if this news is true then it is very disappointing, but should not distract us form the overall reforms we need to make. Imran Khan is working with the military, because they know it is now or never. This is Ramadan, have patience.

We also need to look at ways to reduce the non-productive (non-revenue generating) use of oil and gas, especially in home heating and cooling.

Ultimately, if we can build back our export earning industries, and earn form new industries like Tourism.
Now reading articles like this point to the "do or die" need for reforms. If we had found oil, we would have postponed reforms until we would have wasted our demographic dividend. We need to make the need reforms if we are to reach at least an upper middle income country standard of USD $12,000/capita by 2047. By which time we will not have enough young people relative to the number of old people that need to be supported to be as attractive for investment.

Last month Khan said, “I implore that we all pray that Pakistan gets this natural resource in substantial quantity.” If his government is serious about reform, perhaps he should be praying for the opposite, at least until he gets Pakistan’s affairs in order.

I think it was the incompetent petroleum minister who misinformed him. You never never claim reserves based upon seismic data.

I have been saying this for months on this forum.

Maybe that is who the petroleum minister was fired by IK.
