Oh Dear, SU-30 Has Really Broken Modi's Heart

What if the Rafales fail too?
First they need to send up more than a single Rafale to make any point .
In the meantime, the IAF even in peacetime hasn't managed to synchronise a simple break.

The best thing India can do for the Su30 is rip out all of the Russian, Israeli electronics and avonics and installed a home grown Indian avionics architecture, AESA radar, mission computer and EW equipment to ensure they all work together instead of it being a frankenstein. The Su30 is an excellent platform that is hampered by Russian and Israeli EW equipment ...

ie The Darin programme for the Jaguar is a exmaple of a good avonics core that they totally built in India and could be the foundation of a Su30MKI upgrade programme ( Darin or course to be enhanced with better Air to Air capabilities etc ). Top it off with a homegrown AESA radar, etc.

Or adopt the Tejas avonis suite for the Su30MKI (that that feels like a frankenstein from what i can see .. ).

The Super 30 programme by Russia is a waste of time ...

he has ordered decommissioning of all Su 30
Quite possible. MKI maintenance are not cheap. If they are expensive to maintenance while doesn't serve the deterrent purpose. It shall be decommissioning.

At least Mig-21 are cheap to maintenance while can still serve the purpose of air patrol.
Their ego wouldn't allow it.
Not about ego but more bargaining chips. If u have only one source of supply. I am sure they will fixed a certain price and milk u enough.

At any given time IAF 1 out of 2 Su-30 is out of service. so 250 Su-30 is more like 120-150 Su-30.

In his message of greetings to the India Air Force on it's 89th anniversary, the Indian Prime Minister has posted several pictures of IAF aircraft in his Tweet, which included even vintage MiG-21 and barely inducted LCA Tejas, but one aircraft acutely missing in all the pictures is the so called Raptor of Asia aka AMRAAM Dodger. Ironically, the SU-30 is the most prolific aircraft in IAF inventory and despite having over 250 in service, Modi is on record for crying out for the Rafales.....Is Modi Ji still holding a grudge against the SU-30 .:D

SU30 is no doubt a raptor of asia and a very potent fighter jet but in the hands of IAF it becomes a Cessna .

.
jet fighters in the hand of indians is a dangerous as a child playing with a kite.

.
Trolling aside, the Su-30 is a very capable aircraft. Why does India need Rafales?

Su-30 is actually an extremely potent platform with amazing airframe. The only problem is the electronics and materials.

That is why J-16 takes the Su-30 airframe (partially) and adapts the shape to best fit with Chinese materials and avionics.

But in certain wrong hands, even a highly potent aircraft is just a Cessna.
