Well we all have the right to express our views with regards to diplomacy,demoracy or human rights in our country.. but that is not mixed with the diplomacy unlike pakistan where a mere rejection of pak players from a private tournement called ipl turned out into a major diplomatic issue..!!!!

And more over rushdies book is banned in india..!! but we are not banning the auther coz we know that we are not barbarians..!!! We have taken care of the sentiments of muslims as well as the fundemental rights of mr.rushdie..and thats my friend how a democracy works..!!!!!

this thread is abt salman rushdie and his statements. y the abt india and pakistan and times of india and indian media and pakistan being the defender of the islamic faith rofl etc? plse post replies based on the thread. has any pakistanis read any of rushdies works incl satanic verses?if so wat is yr general opinion of rushdie as a writer? if satanic verses was never published would u have a different opinion of rushdie ?

Rushdie is not a diplomat or a geo-political analyst. so I fail to see what credibility his comments on the geo-political situation in South Asia possess.

This really illustrates the 'Tabloidish TOI' mentality and obsession with negative portrayals of Pakistan in the Indian media.

Once again, the choice of a tabloid rag such as the ToI, that thrives on distorting news about Pakistan and publishing often absurd anti-Pakistan propaganda, for 'Aman Ki Asha' is just mind boggling.

The Hindu would have by far been a better partner.
