The United States also has no ability to help the Third World in infrastructure construction, and they even mess up their own country's infrastructure! Guys let's not kid ourselves, the US has been addicted to war since it's creation, they will not suddenly have a change of heart and start building infrastructure in 3rd world countries instead of destroying them.
The leaderships in the west literally get off on killing people in 3rd world countries because it makes them feel superior so it's not just because of oil or gas or "regime change" that they wage war, they do that to satisfy their imperialist ego. When Madeline Albright said that killing 500k children is worth it, she didn't just say it for the sake of getting the oil or whatever, it made her feel like a superior being that she can show her authority over children's lives.
So while personally I wish that the US will indeed start building the developing world but that is just not real.

This is less about any investments in the developing world. That is not going to happen, ever. The flow of money from the developing world to the developed world continues even after the overt colonial days. That flow is critical in sustaining Western economies, and banking. The reality is, this is nothing but a carrot to slow down the power shift towards China. The West will dangle this in front of countries to avoid a sharp move away from US reserve currency status. That is the primary use of this vehicle. They'll showcase a few major wins in strategic countries and then leverage that for a long time using their marketing (media) engine to amplify its "value". That formula of the West has not changed.

Its not easy to copy or replicate OBOR. Those countries dont have the geographical advantage that china have. Also OBOR is based on historic silk road and already is ahead and in implementation phase.
