Obama whining a result of US decline

Hello my friend! My words speak of result. We could care less about anyone said. We are a result speaking people. LOL

Our leadership has a direct interest in protecting our country because their survival depends on it. Why we should not support? Joke? LOL

With over billion people and million small to medium size businesses, there is going to be a loophole. What's important is we are trying to fix the problem as it presents itself. Any country during their development phase will experience similar event.

Come one my friend, don't you know your country in Vietnam is a hell hole? Why aren't you doing something to help them? LOL
Home Depot tried the Chinese market and failed. Not because Home Depot itself is a flawed concept. In America, 99.999% of home owners engages in some measure of improving their homes -- ON THEIR OWN. Hence, the do-it-yourself (DIY) concept that created Home Depot.

You tried to cast Americans as lazy, but in reality...

http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10000872396390444433504577651072911154602
Home Depot conceded that it misread the country's appetite for do-it-yourself products. "The market trend says this is more of a do-it-for-me culture," a Home Depot spokeswoman said of China.
Home Depot failed in China because the store's leadership failed to understand the IMMATURITY that is currently in the Chinese people once they are exposed to the outside world. The modern capitalistic and image worrying Chinese sees any kind of manual labor, even when for the sake of one's home, belongs to a lower class of people. So do not tell us that you Chinese do not care what foreigners says about China when what you say about yourselves -- as a people -- reveals to us by way of an example like Home Depot. In America, working on one's own home is a mark of pride. I wish I have skills beyond my garage door. But in China, apparently manual labor on behalf of one's own home to improve it, no matter how little by little and day by day, is a mark of shame. Better to hire someone else willing to lower himself to that class, no ?

Why is China the world's largest consumer of high end brands like Louis Vuitton ? Because the world's opinion is that the brand is worthwhile owning. If you Chinese do not care, the brand would not be making boatloads of money from the Chinese people. You boast about how you Chinese are 'sophisticated' enough to brandish luxury luggage and import Italian performance autos, but then turn around and say you do not care what others say about you ?

Stop using buzzwords as if you know what the hell you are talking about. I have seen examples of Chinese manufacturing, from management to engineering to production, at least in my industry. Chinese efficiency ? It was a joke 12 yrs ago then and it has barely improved since.

Creativity ? Here is what a Chinese doctor who survived the Cultural Revolution said about the Chinese people: "To survive in China you must reveal nothing to others. Or it could be used against you. That's why I've come to think the deepest part of the self is best left unclear. Like mist and clouds in a Chinese landscape painting, hide the private part behind your social persona. Let your public self be like rice in a dinner: bland and inconspicuous, taking on the flavors of its surroundings while giving off no flavor of its own."

You think working your slaves 16 hrs/day is a mark of advancement ? No, that is a sign of incompetence, inefficiency, corruption, and lack of creativity. Modern day Chinese manufacturing is STILL learning from the West, working hard to shed itself of the decades incompetent Communist Party leadership. The US is still the world's manufacturing powerhouse by any metrics, including those of China's.

Thanks for your free ride, and we need another free ride for the next 30 years. Keep on America, you have done a good job.

Nope. You are wrong. Too much brainwashed propaganda installed in you.

Business partners does make you allies. That's part of being in an alliance. China has friends in Africa, Asia, Latin America. US only has allies by the threat of force which is unsustainable as we saw with the Soviet Union. Everyone in Latin America welcomes China's presence to counter the US. Seem to me like US is pushing those countries into the arms of China

US is on the decline rapidly and the regime is struggling to counter the decline which is why the murderous regime is causing chaos all over the world to distract the population from the staggering problems at home.

China will pass the US economically, financially, technologically and militarily.
Bookmark it.

You my friend is the one deluding yourself as your brainwashed mind cannot see the decline of the US.

Chinese innovation (DF-21D) has made the entire US carrier battle groups obsolete
And no, the US has nothing to counter the DF-21D.

US population is one of the fastest ageing populations and will increase the welfare budget and drain national resources. China can and is going to raise the retirement age when its needed to reduce the burden. US cannot do that due to politics.

Money is everything to determine other aspects of hard power (financial, technological and military). Without money you have nothing. Money is the foundation.

US economy is a disaster which can't even grow 1% even with 6 years at 0% interest rates, trillions in QE, and bubbles created everywhere. The US is a massive ponzi scheme pretending to be an economy. Chinese economy is restricting and still growing multiple times faster than the US from a massive economic base.

Business partners do NOT equal allies. The US and China do a half trillion in trade every year. Does that mean we're allies? Who is going to support China in a potential conflict and when the going gets tough? Russia? Keep dreaming....The fact is China has no influential allies to speak of. As we saw China stumble *** backwards in their own backyard in the search for Flight 370, they have no ability to use foreign bases, which entangles China from a logistics standpoint. While China continues to bully its neighbors in the region, the US is gaining stronger alliances in the region by the day. The recent defense agreements and exercises just bolsters my position. The US is even set to sign a 25 year defense agreement with Australia this week.

The DF-21D is a very unreliable weapon at this point. For the DF-21D to be effective, it has to have space and maritime ISR assets to be able to target and engage moving ships across the vast expanse of the Pacific. China has not even tested the weapon against a moving target at sea which calls into question the reliability of the weapon. The US will also target those ISR nodes from the outset of a conflict, thereby leaving the DF-21D blind and useless. US commanders have also discussed countermeasures to target the "kill chain" of the DF-21D using electromagnetic warfare to deceive and disrupt its onboard sensors. To say we cannot counter the DF-21D is absolutely 100% false. The US is also continuing to extend our long reach with systems such as UCLASS, LRS-B(our next bomber), and weapons such as JASSM-ER, LRASM, and SM-6. We are also at the forefront of directed energy weapons. This is all on top of a huge black budget, where there is no telling what we have up our sleeves.

If you want to keep living in fantasy land, go right ahead, your not the first troll I've discoursed with. The fact is I've shattered your arguments, so have a nice day my Chinese wannabe friend.

I never said innovation was exclusive to the US. It's easy to open a research facility, but much harder to replicate the success an agency like DARPA has had. The US is at the forefront of science, technology, medicine, higher education, and have been for years. That's not going to change, regardless of if someone opens a research facility in Singapore.

An as I've said before, overall GDP is just one of many factors to consider in a nations power. US growth is trending upwards in the coming years, while China's is down. China might pass US overall GDP, but still has 1.3 billion people to care for, not to mention the US standard of living is much higher.

I don't see how uniquely successful DARPA has been considering that many research agent in countries around the world has far far less resource, yet are still able to produce result. China saw significant progress and much accelerated pace in technological development in recent years due to its economic growth, and I would argue that when its allocated resources supersedes that of the US, its advancement will surpass that of the US eventually as well for its only a matter of time. Remember that the US advancement in science & technology is built upon its wealth. Matter fact, its advancement are build upon immigrants, the same immigrants that other country can attract as well when they can offer better incentives.

Yes, China has a long way to go to reach the US standard of living, but when it come to research budget & military funding, those needs not be divided by its population base. US as a mature economy will never grow at 7%, not even 5%, so a upward growth trend does not exist in the long term. Its a cyclical trend of boom and bust, but as its competitor will continue to grow at a much higher pace, its account of overall global GDP will continue to decline. If you do no recognize that, then you are simply in denial.

Home Depot tried the Chinese market and failed. Not because Home Depot itself is a flawed concept. In America, 99.999% of home owners engages in some measure of improving their homes -- ON THEIR OWN. Hence, the do-it-yourself (DIY) concept that created Home Depot.

DIY does not exist in China as labor cost are low that it make no economic sense for DIY. What does that have to do with immaturity? Rather, Home Depot is immaturity for its lack of understanding in the market it tries to gain access to. What works in the US most likely will not work, and any company with the mentality of success in the US will translate into success elsewhere is doom to failure. Another example of failure is Best Buy as in China technical support are essentially free.

Ally as in free loader? Security commitments manned by and paid for by the US are a serious drain on your already strained resources. An empire overextending itself will certainly work in China's favor. Sun Zi's art of war is all about when, where and who to pinch to the best of one's own advantage, as it strongly advise against spreading oneself everywhere.

Guy is uber stupid wasting his time on middle east while ignoring a country like india completely.........bush was stupid but he was very pro india.

This guy is just a good orator, otherwise pretty stupid

There's nothing wrong with Mr. Obama, he's black!

I don't see how uniquely successful DARPA has been considering that many research agent in countries around the world has far far less resource, yet are still able to produce result.
The products are comparable to DARPA's ? You mean there is an equivalent to the Internet somewhere ?

Remember that the US advancement in science & technology is built upon its wealth. Matter of fact, there are a lot of immigrants right now in China, doing their parts, under incentives, to make China the way China is today. But it is funny that you Chinese usually downplay immigrants' contribution to China but highlight the same for the US. For now, these gains are short term. There is a difference between getting someone to come to China for a few short years to work as a mercenary, such as when the former headmasters of America's top private high schools like Choate and Hotchkiss were hired to modernize education in China, versus getting entire families to uproot themselves and abandon their former countries to become citizens of another. What made the US is the latter. You are confused between a mercenary and an immigrant.

Yes, China has a long way to go to reach the US standard of living, but when it come to research budget & military funding, those needs not be divided by its population base. Does this mean that if China's standards of living increases, American standards of living decreases ? Given the current differences, if China's growth is generously given at 7% while the US is 4%, how long do you think it will take for China to par US ? In your great granchildrens' lifetime, perhaps ?

Home Depot failed, but IKEA succeeded. Why ? IKEA's furniture line requires manual labor make them functional.

You missed the point as to why Home Depot failed. The immaturity here is about how much the Chinese people want to present themselves to each other, not just to the world. Working on the roof is not glamorous and it does not matter the labor economics. If replacing leaky shingles is perceived as 'low class', then either the Chinese homeowner will do it with shame, or if he can afford the cost, he will hire a 'low class' person to do it, whereas in America, it does not matter if the homeowner is a white collar millionaire or a blue collar plumber, the ability to replace the leaky shingles is a mark of personal pride in home ownership. Sam Walton (CEO Walmart) drives a beaten old pick up truck and labor on his property without shame, he also wear clothes from Walmart.

IKEA is about the perception of cultural sophistication, of which the Chinese people, pretty much exposed to such in a flash, have no or little guidance on how they are perceived. But once exposed, they saw the great chasm between what they have versus what people outside China have, and they are eager to at least cover up that chasm with a veneer of sophistication imported from foreigners, if not eliminate it by creating their own brands that they hope will be perceived as equal in cultural sophistication to others.

How IKEA adapted its strategies to expand and become profitable in China - Business Today
IKEA, famous for its flat-pack furniture which consumers have to assemble themselves, realised that understanding the local culture is important - Chinese people hate the do-it-yourself concept and Indians likely do so even more.

IKEA is a rain puddle while Home Depot is a well when it comes to home ownership and the home ownership example is only one sign among many of that immaturity. Another sign of that eagerness to be perceived as intellectual and cultural equals to foreigners ?

Zhang Da Zhong: Executive Profile & Biography - Businessweek
Mr. Zhang Da Zhong founded Beijing Dazhong Investment Co. Ltd and served as its President. Mr. Da Zhong was the Founder of Beijing Dazhong Electrical Appliance Co., Ltd. and serves as its Chairman. Mr. Zhang has been the Chairman of the Board of GOME Electrical Appliances Holding Limited since March 10, 2011.
Supposedly Zhang have in his home a three persons 'reading staff' who reads books that both he and this staff considers important to his image as a CEO whenever Zhang have to socialize with leaders, political and business. Zhang does not read those books. His 'reading staff' does the reading then gives him the summaries of those books. In America, we have something similar call 'Cliff Notes' or what the magazine Reader's Digest does very well: condensed (heavily edited) versions of popular books. Cliff Notes are very popular among high school and college students. As a bookworm, I would love to have this job. Getting paid to read then write book reports with no accountability to professional peers ?

You didn't realize US living standard have been declining? The middle class is vaporizing.

Home Depot failed, but IKEA succeeded. Why ? IKEA's furniture line requires manual labor make them functional.

Looks like you got the IKEA story completely wrong. IKEA is not doing well as a retailer in China, instead it is becoming a profitable developer. Very few sells are done in IKEA store as Chinese would go there to check the design and often times hire a carpenter to tailor make their furniture based on the IKEA design at a lower cost. What makes IKEA profitable is the amount of foot traffic through their store, so instead of selling things, they are developing shopping centers around their stores and rent it to other venders. That's how they make money in China.

Yeah...I live within walking distance of 3 millionaires. Whenever any of them fill his swimming pool, I lose drinking/bathing water.

Yeah...IKEA succeeded better than Home Depot. That was the point. Home Depot failed because of culture, not because Home Depot cannot adapt. Home Depot's culture is about manual labor and that there is no shame in it. That is in conflict with the current Chinese culture. IKEA is well aware of what is going on in China but precisely because IKEA's culture is different than Home Depot, IKEA can adapt and survive in China. Whether IKEA China is doing precisely the same as IKEA US or IKEA Europe is besides the point, which is that the current Chinese mentality is that manual labor on one's home is a shameful thing to do.

Ikea at last cracks China market, but success has meant adapting to local ways | South China Morning Post

But try to think beyond what the Party want you to think. If a well to do Chinese urbanite can buy a genuine IKEA furniture, do you think he/she is going to hire some local yokel to make something that will most likely be inferior in quality, build, and appearance ? In the scmp.com source above, look at the photo of the woman who is helping her son urinate -- in public -- while in an IKEA store. Yes, most likely she is of the type who will hire someone to build an inferior copy of an IKEA piece of furniture, but for an engineer who have been outside China and know how foreigners lives, he will be the type that will buy a genuine IKEA piece.

IKEA is not a luxury brand, genuine IKEA furniture means little. Ask any American, if tailor made real wood furniture base on IKEA design is at the same price as the IKEA's flimsy cardboard furniture that they will have to put together themselves, which one would they choose? The fact of the matter is that tailor made furniture are beyond of what most working family in America can afford.

It is irrelevant if IKEA is a luxury brand or not. For the Chinese people, it probably is. For Americans, we know that IKEA furniture pieces are made of particle boards, not wood, but that does not stop people from camping out overnight for a new IKEA store opening.

Customers camping outside Colorado IKEA ahead of grand opening - The Denver Post
CENTENNIAL — Two days before IKEA opens its 415,000-square-foot store in Centennial, more than 100 folks are camping outside its doors with camping gear, food and umbrellas.
This is about perception and Americans are not immune.

Again, you complete missed the point about the immaturity of the Chinese people in the face of current growth, economic and social, in China.

Unbelievable how these peoples have to justify DIY by calling others immature.
Just because American/west has to do DIY because labor is expensive, therefore DIY has to be holier than thou.
Don't they know that division of labor is the backbone of modern society?
But when it comes to home improvement, because China is different than they are, then Chinese is immature.
The vanity of some people. LOL.
