Obama warns TPP failure would let China write trade rules

Of course it would. Japan's natural trade partners are with both China and Korea; it's not like all three economies aren't integratinf as it is because all three are! It's just that with an FTA, this would mean a greater market penetration for each others' products. Japan can and should open more to a Chinese agricultural goods, electronics, and hey this means fishing goods as well. Japan can benefit by having greater access to the chinese domestic market.

Japan's trade with China is already nearing $400 Billion, there's no reason why it can't be $600 Billion or more. Let's hit the $1 Trillion mark!

I feel there is more trade compatibility between China and Japan than China and South Korea. This does not mean China-SK FTA does not make sense, but, a bilateral agreement between China and Japan would, ideally, be much more easily negotiated.

LOL!!!

Obama, I don't understand the race riots, the poor immigration policy in USA, the millions of undocumented illegals streaming through the Texas and California border every year!! I can't understand the U.S.' own protectionist policies on Japanese automakers, so before you criticize look to your own issues.

Unbelievable incompetent moron!

Not only that he publicly reprimanded the British Government for joining! The audacity !

He's just a corporate slave, so it's not really his fault. It's amazing how Americans suddenly want to act like they're part of Asia, when they couldn't even spell Asia three years ago.

I respect some of his ideals and his social justice thinking, I really do. It's just that that doesn't necessarily translate into effective policy implementations internationally or domestically, as his policies have shown. He condemns socialist governments and touts Western importance due to their "unwavering" support for human rights but funnels billions of dollars to support fanatical terrorists in Syria (moderate rebels as he called them one time, not knowing they were the progenitors of ISIS). He criticized Japanese and Chinese executive policies as too excessive yet at the same time he himself violates legislative proceedings by threatening to veto any Congressional bills by treating to use his executive powers. He unleashes the IRS to target conservative groups and yet is dismissive on liberal leftist groups as what was revealed during the Lewis Lerner Congressional hearing.

Obama , had noble ideals in his days as a senator, the man was a good community organizer , a decent junior senator. But as the President of the United States? He is by far one of the worst ever. Ever. He has done more harm to this country than any other foreign country could.

Rather sad really.

Libbies wanted change... and they got it, and it ended up being FUBAR.

lol, that's right. And they're not satisfied, they want Hillary Clinton on the helm.

Not only economic will be hit hard but also pop-culture - tons of censorship and radical feminism agenda will be on the rise.

lol careful know, the liberals might label you as a homophobe, sexist, and might even censure you.

I wish i was kidding, but its just so sad to say that its just a reality here.

PS. In the university that i work at, they even started using "unisex" bathrooms now, to cater to those who may be of a cross-gender situation. Just abhorring, FYI.

I wouldn't care if they call me homophobe and sexist since because I will not adjust to what they want.

Apparently, the "unisex" bathrooms is the result of LGBT being more vocal under the Obama administration and expressing some disagreements with the same "demographic" group automatically equates to being homophobic. I even remember reading about the issue of Michelle Obama's food standards in public schools.

I particularly find it disturbing actually and my students have complained about this , many university students complaining to the campus' student government on the use of Unisex designation. The College Dean answered by saying that the use of 'unisex' bathrooms is to accomodate all students, irrespective of race, religion and sexual orientation.

Can you imagine it? As if unisex bathrooms serves religious groups? LOL. Okay, so now female students who need privacy will have to be forced to share the same stalls as male students, and this serves a security issue especially for students who are inebriated , God knows what could happen if several drunken male students are in a bathroom and a female student is in there. This is a college campus safety issue, given the current date rape issue in US college campuses.

I find it just disgusting. Sacrifice the concerns of the majority to appease a statistically insignificant number , the transgender students. America has changed culturally, really. This LGBT agenda has become a monster of its own and its sickening how such a small minority has influenced policy makers and now is infringing on the rights of majority of Americans.

Thank God Japan is not affected by this unnatural social cancer.

I guess the school authorities think that by having a unisex bathroom, it means they are accommodating everyone. Problem is that what if something happens there? Specially if the ones using the bathroom are in their late teens? Would they want parents coming to their school to complain about some "incidents"?

Sadly, Hollywood has a hand in promoting LGBT agenda that even new movies must have an LGBT character under the threat that people will be called out as "homophobic."

Political correctness gone mad.

Here in the Philippines, majority of the jokes made by LGBT are in fact offensive but the majority do not see it as offensive. In fact, one time President Aquino immediately allowed a showbiz-affiliated LGBT to interview him which includes questions full of non-sense whereas people who have experience and credibility in interviewing important personalities are not granted such priviledge.

In regards to LGBT awareness and rights, America is in a league of its own.

In fact in Japan being gay or lesbian is severe social taboo, no one will 'persecute' one for being gay or lesbian, but it is very disgraceful for the family in the sight of others. It is antithetic to the Japanese Culture and quite frankly will not gain foothold since Japan still is verily much socially conservative.

In the Philippines, from my understanding, gays and lesbians have a comedic role in society, yes? The ones i've seen during my stay in Manila were those who go about from house to house selling feminine wares , and manicure supplies? lol. I still remember the one time i was out with some Japanese friends who were in Manila with me for a business trip, and you can easily spot the 'bayot' because they dress and walk as if they are women? Anong saying? "Bakla na bakla talaga..."

You are borderline homophobic ? :o:

I think they're called hermaphrodites....we've got some of them in Pakistan too. Unfortunately they suffer from some social discrimination as they are not accepted by the society as normal human beings ! :(

Not homophobic, am socially conservative. I just don't like it when people force their agenda onto others. I've had plenty of experience with this and they like to bring out their LGBT card whenever disagreements occur. They use it as a crutch and God forbid you disagree with them on some issues and they say, "Its because I'm gay, right? Its because we're not heterosexual, right?"

With such a defensive stance, one can't see beyond the periphery.

Hmmmn....so its a little like how the Jews play the Anti-Semetic card, the Blacks the Racist card and the Muslims the Islamophobia card whenever we're criticized !

People will be people !

And I am socially conservative too ! :agree:

By the way when I met @Cossack25A1 and I was like 'whats up my Fillipino brother' ! :azn:

He was like 'I don't socialize with people who support Liverpool FC when I am a Man United fan' !

To think that Asian brotherhood hinges on the support for English football teams ! :(

Of course, its never right to see the persecution of people. Wherever they are, whatever they are. Persecution is wrong period.

Yes! Precisely! Its like man up , yes you experienced difficulties, but don't let those difficulties be a reason for one to settle and remain unproductive.

There's a gas station that i go to on a regular basis close to my house; a local Shell Gas Station. The owner of this gas station is an Iraqi guy who've ive befriended these past 2 years since i've met him. The guy is in his 50s, came to the US in the early 2000s as a refugee, came here with his family (wife, 2 sons, 2 daughters) with all that they had. The first thing he did was find a job , worked as a gas station attendant, saved enough money to put down capital and took out a loan to start his own , and is now running the Shell Gas Station as the general manager. His two sons went to college here , one is a mechanic, the other is a banker , his daughters are both nurses. They achieved that level of success in less than 15 years time, they came here with nothing and as refugees, for goodness sakes. They lost everything they had in Iraq, haven't seen family members in a long time and Ishak (that's his name) is content with his life, and what his kids have accomplished. I have never or heard Ishak complain about his position , mention about the racism or is ever defensive. The guy is always positive, and whenever i come buy to his store to get things, what is supposed to take 5 minutes to buy gasoline and some drinks, ends up into a 30-40 minute conversation, LOL.

I admire people like that. People that rise up through challenges, not whining and complaining about the difficulties they have to endure, but those who smile despite the challenges and eventually make a name for themselves. That's what i call noble character.
