Economic sanctions only work against insignificant weak nations like Vietnam and Philippines. It will not work against the manufacturing and economic engine of the World, whom almost every other nation depends on for goods and trade. Viets need to know their place in the World and understand nobody respects them and won't do anything for them, if it means having to upset China in the process. This is the World order now...deal with it!

Sanctions work on nations that rely the most on trade...

China can be very badly hit with sanctions....Other countries in the region (like India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Pakistan etc etc) will be quick to replace china as the world's factory...

I have here an interesting remark for all delusional chinese and other cheerleaders. The US defence minister Ash Carter states in a public speech recently:

"Only the relationship with Vietnam has delivered significant strategic benefits to the United States in the past six years."

that means all other nations in Asia, from Japan to Korea to India to Indonesia do not contribute much to the american strategic calculation. The US needs Vietnam to take on chinese bullying and tyranny.
