Kangana Ranaut appears to have called for violence in response to the controversy surrounding Amazon Prime Video web series Tandav. In a now deleted tweet posted on Monday, 18 January, the actor wrote, "Because even Lord Krishna forgave 99 mistakes of Sheshupala... pehle shanti phir kranti (first peace then vengence)... time to take their heads off.. Jai Shri Krishan..." She was responding to a tweet by Twitter user @TheAtulMishra.

Team Saath, an organisation that works to prevent online abuse, trolling and harassment, posted a screenshot of the tweet condemning Kangana's words.

Other Twitter users also criticised the actor's incendiary words and appealed to Twitter to suspend her account for "spreading hate". Some also requested the Mumbai Police to take cognisance of the matter.

Shortly after the web series released, BJP leaders began calling for a ban on Tandav alleging that the show mocks Hindu deity Shiva and hurts religious sentiments. An FIR has been filed in Lucknow's Hazratganj Kotwali against the makers of Tandav. Separate criminal complaints have also been filed before courts in Delhi and Bihar seeking action against the streaming platform and the makers of the web series. Amazon Prime Video's India head of original content Aparna Purohit, director of Tandav Ali Abbas Zafar, the show's producer Himanshu Krishna Mehra and writer Gaurav Solanki, actors Saif Ali Khan and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub are among those associated with the show who have been named in these complaints.

Tandav director Ali Abbas Zafar issued a statement of apology on behalf of the cast and crew on 18 January, following a meeting with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, which sought an explanation from Amazon Prime Video after taking cognisance of the complaints lodged against the show.

Actors, director and producers have a lot of muslims in that web series.

Just wondering why they chose to parody Hindu gods,
Why not parody their own religion and show how secular they are.....THEN they can parody my religion.

These clowns think Hindus are idiots....in a way we are.
We should take inspiration from muslims, look at how they protect their religion, irrespective of numbers or country.
Does any industry in the world even think of doing parody of Islam? NO
We all know the reason for it.

I am all for free speech and freedom of expression.
So, before doing a parody on my religion, my suggestion to Saif Ali Khan is to do parody of his religion and show the world how truly FAD and secular he is.
Writer and director is Ali Abbas Zafar

Wonder why this secular director could not find content from his own religion to make fun off?
This is not one of instance,
This same group repeatedly makes shows that makes fun of Hindu gods...

The only thing is for HIndus to find their balls and do what muslims would be in a similar situation.

Just wondering why they chose to parody Hindu gods

1. Some months ago a question on Kaun Banega Crorepati had the Hindutvadis outraged. The question was which old Hindu text was burned publicly by Ambedkar in 1927. The answer was the Manusmriti. The outraged people called for punishment for Sony TV and for Amitabh Bachchan who hosts the show. What was so wrong about this question ? Ambedkar did do it and if given the chance many Dalits will do it again now. Hindutvadis have a habit of being outraged again and again.

2. I believe that in this web series, Tandav, there is one dialogue about the caste system which is one the reasons for this latest outrage. Can you tell me what it is ? I don't know.

We all know the reason for it.

The social climate within the Indian Muslim community has changed for the worse in the last 15 or so years but earlier Indian Muslims would not be outraged for silly reasons. One example from a relaxed past is the song 'Parda hai parda' with the hero singing of publicly taking off the heroine's burqa. Today this will cause outrage.

Let me ask you a question,
If instead of Manusmriti, it was your own religion's book, what would you think would have happened to Amitabh?

THAT'S NOT THE POINT THOUGH.

These BollyWhores would parody Hindu gods without even flinching.
So, as a Hindu am I being wrong in asking why these BollyWhores won't parody their own religion...

Or do you think I am asking too much from these BollyWhores?

.
Let me ask you a question,
If instead of Manusmriti, it was your own religion's book, what would you think would have happened to Amitabh?

But why would Amitabh burn the Quran and have a legitimate reason to speak against it ? It is a progressive work unlike the foul, anti-human Manusmriti.

Let me quote from my thread which is an article by an Indian Christian woman who married an Indian Muslim under Islamic marriage law because that better secured her economic future in case of divorce :
In fact, as a Christian marrying a Muslim, I chose to marry under the Muslim personal law, even over the seemingly modern Special Marriage Act, 1954, to better secure my economic rights. My mehr was a house in my name and my nikahnama includes necessary clauses to safeguard my and my children’s rights. My husband’s family members were witness to this document, which is registered and enforceable by law.

When we examine marriage laws in their historic context, it is interesting to note that the universally accepted notion that marriages are contractual rather than sacramental originates in Muslim law, which was accepted by the French law only in the 1800s and incorporated into the English law in the 1850s and became part of codified Hindu law as late as 1955. Today it appears to be the most practical way of dealing with the institution of marriage. Treating marriage as a sacrament which binds the parties for life has resulted in some of the most discriminatory practices against women such as sati and denial of right to divorce and remarriage, even in the most adverse conditions.

The cornerstone of a Muslim marriage is consent, ejab-o-qubul (proposal and acceptance) and requires the bride to accept the marriage proposal on her own free will. This freedom to consent (or refuse), which was given to Muslim women 1,400 years ago, is still not available under Hindu law since sacramental rituals such as saptapadi and kanya dan (seven steps round the nuptial fire and gifting of the bride to the groom) still form essential ceremonies of a Hindu marriage. Even after the codification of Hindu law, the notion of consent is not built into the marriage ceremonies.

The contract of marriage (nikahnama) allows for negotiated terms and conditions, it can also include the right to a delegated divorce (talaq-e-tafweez) where the woman is delegated the right to divorce her husband if any of the negotiated terms and conditions are violated.

Mehr is another unique concept of Muslim law meant to safeguard the financial future of the wife. It is an obligation, not a choice, and can be in the form of cash, valuables or securities. While there is no ceiling, a minimum amount to provide her security after marriage must be stipulated. This is a more beneficial concept than streedhan which is given by choice and usually by the natal family. In addition to Mehr, at the time of divorce, a Muslim woman has the right to fair and reasonable settlement, and this is statutorily recognised under the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Divorce) Act, 1986 as per the 2001 ruling of the Supreme Court in the Daniel Latifi case.

I quote from another thread of mine about Muslim socialist / communist activism since the early 1900s :
During the same period (1920s-30s), another (though lesser known) Islamic scholar in undivided India got smitten by the 1917 Russian revolution and Marxism.

Hafiz Rahman Sihwarwl saw Islam and Marxism sharing five elements in common: (1) prohibition of the accumulation of wealth in the hands of the privileged classes (2) organisation of the economic structure of the state to ensure social welfare (3) equality of opportunity for all human beings (4) priority of collective social interest over individual privilege and (5) prevention of the permanentising of class structure through social revolution.

The motivations for many of these themes he drew from the Qur’an, which he understood as seeking to create an economic order in which the rich pay excessive, though voluntary taxes (Zakat) to minimise differences in living standards.

In the areas that Sihwarwl saw Islam and communism diverge were Islam’s sanction of private ownership within certain limits, and in its refusal to recognise an absolutely classless basis of society.

He suggested that Islam, with its prohibition of the accumulation of wealth, is able to control the class structure through equality of opportunity.

Basically, both Sindhi and Sihwarwl had stumbled upon an Islamic concept of the social democratic welfare state.
Please read the rest of that thread OP, long though it is.

How does Manusmriti compare against the Quran then ? I am an old-style Muslim and consider modern Communism to be the natural successor of Islam which itself was a mile stone in historic progressive philosophy.

Lastly, look at these photos from velivada.com ( a Dalit activism site ) that show Dalits burning Manusmriti publicly in 2015. If you browse through this site they have presented the anti-human and discriminatory nature of Manusmriti. Edit : This page.

we also think Manusmriti is perfect,
just as you think your book is perfect.

this is where concept of mutual respect comes in, seems like you lack it.
imagine if i said similar things about your holy book, like you did to mine.

BUT YOU ARE AGAIN AVOIDING THE IMPORTANT POINT....

why do muslim actors, writers, producers and directors parody only Hindu gods?
Why not parody their own religion and spare us?

She should not say such things, good she has removed. Otherwise what would be the difference b/w us and them.

I don't like being different.
My sincere wish is for HIndus to be like muslims when defending our religion.

Not the correct example..can you or any muslim accept if we mock mohammad?

I am not sure what happened in that movie or not.
But it seems like now roles should be divided in Hindu/Muslims on religion bases. Anyway, to curb any 'mockery' just enforce the censorship board what to do.

Nothing to do with roles,

It has everything to do with repeated mocking of Hindu gods by Bollywhores while sparing their own religion.
If they were to mock their own religion along with Hindu gods, I would stand up and salute them.

.
just as you think your book is perfect.

I believe the Quran has to meld modern progressive principles into its own ideas. For example, the Quran allows for private property and continuance of traditional money system ( though a reformed one ) whereas modern Communism calls for abolition of private property and abolition of the traditional money system.

The Quran was good for the time it came about and even now is, if compared to the texts of other religions ( just re-read that Indian Christian woman's action I presented above ).

But think of Muslims on Mars in the mid-2030s or even in this world by then. They will have to accept an evolved pan-human progressive ideology.

we also think Manusmriti is perfect,

Perfect in what, Pothead ? In discrimination, including against women and Lower Castes ? Perfect in ensuring an extremely Capitalist and regressive socio-economic system ? Read this page from velivada.com.

BUT YOU ARE AGAIN AVOIDING THE IMPORTANT POINT....

I agree. Today's Muslim intellectuals and film industry people have to remind themselves of an intellectual past and have to challenge ( perhaps through comedy like in the film PK ) the regressives ( the mullahs and their students ).

I will remind you of one seemingly simple but difficult now phrase from the past : "Mullah ki daud masjid tak".

Not the correct example..can you or any muslim accept if we mock mohammad?

I will call for the Muslim side to engage intellectually with the other party. No violence is required. Or even a threat of violence.

I am not sure what happened in that movie or not.

Meh...
You can abuse Manusmriti & get away in these forums.

You don't need to respect my religion. At least accept that it's important to me and not abuse it to my face.
Just like how you would expect others not to abuse your religion, no matter how they think about it.

It's called decency & golden rule of live and let live.

You don't need to wonder about Muslim intellectuals in film industry.....There are none.
All of them of are Hindu hating bigots.
yet to see one instance where BollyWhores made fun of their own religion, like they do on Hindu gods.

The answer is pretty obvious...hence the outrage.
In fact this outrage is not enough, Hindus must look up to muslims and do the needful when defending our religion.

See ? You are being as stubborn as those who called for the arrest of Bachchan and action against Sony TV.

Is it actual abuse if I am to talk about the anti-human ideas of Manusmriti ? With what logic are you defending Manusmriti here ? Even President Kovind and his wife, who are Dalits, were not spared from Brahmin harassment when they visited the Jagannath temple in Odisha some years ago. Why do you think Jignesh Mevani and Chandrashekhar Azad are agitating ? Why do you think Dalit / SC students Rohith Vemula and Payal Tadvi committed suicide, and what are India's so-called education institutes really teaching ?

You seem to be a semi-privileged middle class person who did the Modi-ordered "Thaali bajao, Corona bhagao" thing, hence untouched by the general misery in India.

Please reflect.

Can't we attack the inanity of all the religions in India?

Well, I for one speak against the changed social atmosphere of Indian Muslims in the last 15 years or so. Burqas, mustache-less Tablighi beards, general non-contribution to a progressive Indian collective spirit and all that.
