TVC adds a lots of weight and hence center of gravity will move back and that will change whole dynamics of plane.

I think it is not far from either since it already has AESA radar.. and the main area in which lagged behind was the the engine and it seems now they have solved it so I think it is already on par with block 60

This TVC engine is too big for the JF-17. Also, it will require structural changes to the JF-17. Could be done but the changes to the structural frame and the development of a new engine with TVC for the JF-17 is a major undertaking, might as well be blk4.

I think upcoming WS-19 for FC-31 will fit the bill for JF-17 and i assume that it will have TVC capability @GumNaam

I'm not so sure dude, it looks far too big for JF-17.

Correct, their biggest challenge area are electronics; they are a decade to two away still; it is mostly re-engineering of others that is being cobbled up for now.

In term of the plane / engine
Pakistan missed the boat on J10B , we would have already had 36 planes by now in 2014

That thread about J10B was one of most popular threads on forum till we decided to not get J10B and keep flying Mirages, just because we were shown some new F16C/D as dangling carrots

Sad stuff to remember, Honorable Musharaf Sahib thinking was so advance had other people saw his vision

Sensor Fusion is another place they are catching up but the HMI has a way to go to get to say the level of the Gripen. Better Comms and Data networks for battle management and aircraft maintenance (Like ALIS for the F-35) are not mentioned as heavily, while it is a bigger point in western fighters. Taking the burden off the pilot to analysis the data and focus on fighting the fight should be more of a push once the hardware is perfected.

Also the Gripen separates Flight Software from Avionics Software. This way they can weekly update the Avionics to better handle changes updates that can help maintain EW capabilities and faster weapons integration.

That dangling of the carrot ( F16 ) was a SABOTAGE so that the Paf would not go for the J10B and the imbeciles at Paf fell for it---. Pure treason---.

It was so obvious.......our guys were being invited to USA , they were given tours , they did a silly ceremony to fool us by launch of F16 C/D made complete mockery of our sincerity

On one side , we were being shown these military gadgets and on other side their government was busy passing anti Pakistani resolutions .....

1) Banning our reimbursement

2) Not recognizing our losses

3) Openly not voicing for Kashmir issue

4) Lowest point was when our Military Head went personally to Conrgess to convey message what we have done but still , the civilian government of USA is drastically delusional


In end what happened , we did not get any F16 C/D orders and even our Helicopter deals were delayed or Cancelled



Lessons learned , likely not

I believe it was Qamar Suleiman---until and unless traitors & incompetent like him are not charged with treason and sabotage of national defences---things would never get better--.

Isn't he the one who claimed that the radars were shut down during the OBL operation on 2011 and no aircraft too off in a timely manner---.

IMHO, Shortsightedness and the continued obsession with the "F Sola" more so then any malfeasance dictated the decision to go for the F-16 Block 52. Now that the JF-17 is bearing fruit and the Military Aid has been cut, the defense establishment has weaned itself of US defense products.

Don't get me wrong, if something Free is offered they will gladly take it, but with the 18 F-16s offered at full price, they have FINALLY learned their lesson and said No mas.
