Not so sweet 16: Birthday girl goes into hiding after 15,000 Facebook users turn up for her party


A German teenager fled from her own birthday party after more than 1,500 guests turned up, shortly followed by 100 police officers.
The girl, identified only as Thessa, went into hiding after forgetting to set her party as 'private' on Facebook meaning she got a lot more than she bargained for.
Eleven people were temporarily detained by officers and one policeman was injured.

Surprise party: More than 1,500 people turned up to celebrate a birthday party for Thessa in Hamburg after she mistakenly forgot to set her online invites to 'private'

Thessa had only wanted to ask a handful of friends over to her home but she mistakenly put the event to 'open' and soon 15,000 people confirmed they would attend.

When her parents found out, they made her cancel the party, told the authorities what had happened and hired a private security firm to protect their home on Friday night, according to German newspaper Bild am Sonntag.
