Actually tejas should not have been made at all.
the tejas is the greatest joke from india.
There is no benefits at all.
Its the worst plane...not on same parity as JF-17, FA-50, FCK-1 and F2
It is much easier for the US to replace the Swedish components from its fighters than Sweden to build a fighter based on a new EU engine. It is too risky for India to go for Gripens when they have the option to go with the US F-16s. Once India goes for the US F-16s, Brazil will follow suit. Also, If Gripen goes with Eu engine then it loses the engine commonality India's Fighter and would be even less attractive.
Is there any contract that forces US to deliver engines to Sweden for the Indian fighter bid? Not yet. So there is no legal case here.
Did Brazil evaluate any Russian Fighters? No
The less said about Chinese fighters the better. China is dependent and procuring Russian fighters and engines.
India is clearly separating Tejas from the "single engine " project. If IAF is indeed moving towards a single fighter plane dont you think tejas and kaveri dont even stand a chance!!

tejas is already dead. you can't kill what is already dead. This project will kill tejas.

Tejas is a fine aircraft in my opinion and limited assessment, it's an aircraft with a niche when it comes to comparing it with the rest of the IAF fleet. However, it definitely seems to be neglected by the IAF, we in Pakistan have realised the value of an indigenous aircraft and that value exceeded all prior expectations. Perhaps it's the lightweight category and single engine class that LCA belongs to that means it doesn't fit in with current IAF doctrine and preference for heavies like the MKI and other medium weight platforms, and it looks like we'll see it in limited roles such as interceptor to replace Bisons and in fewer numbers than one might expect.
There are a few different scenarios in which Tejas reaches more of its potential than it currently has. The first is that it is possible perhaps that the Mk2 will fit IAF requirements a bit better than the current variant. The second possibility is that it could be used (and in my opinion should be preferred) to fill numbers in the mean time while Rafale orders are delayed, prolonged or reduced. The third possibility is to be deployed very effectively with the IN as the N-LCA. Lastly, it could also be sold to smaller nations that could use an aircraft like the Tejas, if production lines could be freed up for foreign sales, if sales could be slightly subsidised and sweeter deals promised to prospective customers along with added support for infrastructure and training, it could be possible to sell the aircraft to a roughly similar market to the one JF-17 is being used to target sales.

good question indeed.. if more engines are better than why not three or four or more..World's best fighter plane isn't available for purchase,no matter how you are ready to pay.
I know it's a troll, but I always wonder why big players arnt making three engined fighters?
