Not an inch of land to be conceded to India: Maj General Rafiqul Islam
The newly appointed BDR Director Major General Rafiqul Islam today vowed that not an inch of land will be conceded to India.
The General visited Dibir Haor and Kendri Beel in Jaintapur upazilla bordering Indian state of Meghalya where India claims about 300 acres and let loose muscle power to encroach the land triggering clashes. About 25 Bangladeshi nationals were wounded by BSF bullets in clashes since March last.
The BDR chief said his priorty was to visit the area troubled by Indian BSF and reassure the residents and troopers of total support for safeguarding every inch of the country's soil.
He saw the on-going construction of BDR outpost at Dibir Haor and the border ares of Jaintapur and Goainghat.
Gen Rafiq lauded role BDR troopers and rewarded Jaintapur BOP comander Nayek Subedar Yusuf Ali and assured him of financial assistance for his valiant actions.
He also assured financial assistance to the residents injured by BSF bullets.
