HAFR AL-BATIN: North Thunder, the ongoing military maneuver in Saudi Arabia, is a message to the world that the Kingdom will not be a passive observer to the massacres of civilians and mayhem in Syria and Iran’s ambitions in the region, political observers have said.
According to unofficial sources, around 150,000 soldiers, 2,540 warplanes, 20,000 tanks, and 460 helicopters are participating in the largest military exercise in the history of the region.
Twenty Arab and Muslim countries and the GCC-formed Peninsula Shield are participating in the drill, led by Saudi Arabia.
A spokesman for the Arab coalition forces, Ahmad Assiri, said the aim of the exercise is to achieve the highest level of preparedness, exchange expertise and promote coordination among the participating countries.
Political observers and experts said the military exercise aims at delivering certain indirect messages at the regional and international levels, along with reaching a high level of readiness among the participating armed forces. The stage chosen for the exercise, Hafr Al-Batin in northern Saudi Arabia, adjacent to Iraq, near Iran and Syrian is also a strategic move they said.
Hafr Al-Batin is in the Eastern Province, located 430 km north of Riyadh and 94.2 km from the Kuwaiti border. Hamdan Al-Shehri, a political analyst, said, “The maneuver, which is a strong message for Iran, seeks to unify the military forces of Arab and Islamic countries. It is the first real maneuver after the Kingdom’s announcement of the formation of a 34-nation Islamic alliance against terrorism last December.”
Al-Shehri said that the Saudi government expressed its willingness for ground intervention in Syria after observing international inaction in stopping the massacres in Syria. The move will force Iran to review its regional ambitions, he said.
The Kingdom has officially launched Twitter account, @DiraAlwatan, to cover the North Thunder exercise moment by moment, in Arabic, English and French. The first tweet included information about the drill led by Saudi Arabia to highlight the high combat capabilities of these countries.
Meanwhile, Emirati troops arrived at King Khalid Military City in Hafr Al-Batin on Monday night.
The 20 countries are: Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Bahrain, Senegal, Sudan, Kuwait, Maldives, Morocco, Pakistan, Chad, Tunis, Djibouti, Comoros, Oman, Qatar, Malaysia Egypt, Mauritania, Mauritius.

what kind of Islamic alliance is that ? if SA doesn't consider Iran an islamic country then she should object it in all forums like ICC etc. Blaming Iran with other islamic countries forces in SA, is no sign of islmaic unity but of the famous regional hatred.

Unfortunately Saudia is the main reason islamic world is in such mess. When you put undeserving, illiterate, extremist in power and give them so much money and unquestioned love and support by followers of second biggest religion in the world.
Saudia is the reason Muslim world has literally no unity

No that's not right either, who's supporting Iran anyways!
Iran's policy is reactive, its a reaction against the evil policies of Saudi Arabia. Iran has mostly been trying to save its A** but Saudi Arabia is evil. It works against the interest of Islam, it exports extremism in other Muslim countries and its basically an oppressor of other Muslims. Saudis are basically a rich mindless tool of US and Israel to do their dirty job under the flag of Islam.

Iran policy is a bunch of bull cr@P...

Saudis have invested millions in Syria and Yemen..Hundreds thousands of Syrians and Yemenis work in Saudi Arabia, earn a living and send money back home?? Saudi has every right to defend its investments..what as Iran done?? Armed and funded a conflict..which destroyed lives and ruined future....Iranians are those who ignite fire and run away..leaving people to face the mess..what is Iran going to accomplish by backing the rebels in Yemen? Nothing..absolute zero....Iran does not have the financial muscle to employe its own population..

Storming an embassy and naming a street in honor of well known terrorist is not called fighting evil policies..it is called..supporting terror and mischief..

If you read the history of Iran they are are those who ignite fire and run away...this is what Iran mullahs is doing..what rights are you talking about in Yemen and Syria when people are dying and starving to death..GCC has provided jobs and lively hoods to several hundred thousands Yemenis and Syrians plus the money which is remitted back home..it is a complete economic cycle..so obviously every country will step in to defend their economic interests..what has Iran done and what are they capable of doing?? They can neither match the level of jobs provided by GCC nor the investments...they are themselves broke...
