No water, no trade with India: Khaleda

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday said all trades and transactions with India have to be stopped if it does not share Teesta water with Bangladesh.

Criticising India for frequent killing of Bangladeshis along the border, she asked the government to stop all kinds of road and river transits to India.

"We want friendship with India. But, it should be on give and take basis. If they (India) do not give us anything, we will not give back anything to them," the opposition leader said while addressing a rally at Lalmonirhat.

The main opposition party organised the rally at the Lalmonirhat Collectorate ground aiming to drum up public support for its demand to reinstate the caretaker government system.

Earlier on Sunday, the former prime minister stayed overnight at the Bogra Circuit House on her way to Lalmonirhat.

On the way to Bogra from Dhaka, she spoke in several rallies, including Tangail, Sherpur and Shahajahanpur upazila in the district.

BNP activists and well-wishers put up more than 300 gates on Dhaka-Dinajpur highway from Chandaikona of Sherpur upazila to Rahabol of Shibganj upazila to welcome her.

I just don't get one thing...It seems people have the view that trade is one way street....as if BD is a victim if she indulge in trade with India...I am not saying one should not oppose if there are things that as per them are not in best interests of their nation but don't speak bull sh1t

Your bharat mata is stopping water flow to Bangladesh, creating trade barrier, killing our people, doing conspiracy and instability in our nation, destroying our youth by sending drugs... n after all these what do you expect??? Welcome your bharat mata with rose!!!

If India does not follow the give n take rule, trade should be minimized to the lowest extent. All the trade is only benefiting India legally and illegally.

Now what's with this water thingy? Listen, your water is threatened to stand still not by us but the BNP-Jamaati big brother China. The rivers don't flow from India, they flow from Tibet. And Bangladeshis should know how much damage Brahmaputra's tributaries cause every year for saying all this.

Your water threat is the Dragon who plans to use water as weapon; it will affect us little but will do a lot of damage to your economy. Take it up with the Reds rather than picking a simpler target like us.

How about she does something to stop swarms of illegal migrants flooding our states like West Bengal, Assam, Tripura and Meghalaya?

We don't intend to kill but this encroachment forces us to kill. Bangladesh is for Bangladeshis; not here. If they are legal expats with valid visa, then it is fine. But village encroachment by fanatic mulla-types will not be tolerated anymore. BSF is only doing its duty.

The real reason for our bitterness is people like Khaleda who encourage actions that force us to react with hostility.

The above routes are not as economical and less time consuming as Bangladesh. In case of transit through Bangladesh no loading and unloading will be required but in this case loading and unloading will be required 4 times... 2 time to load n unload in the ship n 2 time to load and unload at the port. Obviously it will raise the cost n time. Time will also require is high. But best of luck to the India if it really think it is best alternative...lol.

But some important facts. India is investing its own money in Myaanmar to build the port but still Myaanmar government refused to handover control of the port to India. The road is built / under construction with Indian money. But for the case of Bangladesh they are expecting free transit n all the investment of 7 billion but I believe it will be much more when it will come to investment to be done by Bangladesh. Very typical Indian mind set.

If there are any illegal migrants it is your headache. Try to deal with it. If you think they are from Bangladesh provide necessary proof n documents to show that they are Bangladeshi n Bangladesh government will accept it. Recently more then 200000 illegal Bangladeshi migrants in malaysiya has been legalized in this way if i am not wrong.

N if you radical hindu extremist n politician lot want to use this song of illegal migrants then just listen up these people are on their way to become majority n you will see your NE India is gone by these same people for all the discrimination n targetting them based on their ethnicity n religion.

Since when your 1 billion became 7 Billion. Our government is paying for the rail line between Akhoura and Agartala and that is enough for us.

As for Sittwe Transit route is considered, it is still 1/3 of the distance through Siliguri corridor and Bangladesh's transit route is less time consuming only for Tripura. Sittwe is more viable for Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram. You guys think you can conquer India with a transit route stupidity then you guys are stupid. And Sittwe Port is Myanmar's property and we need that port only for transit not for colonisation.

lol I told several times that BSF has done nothing apart from killing some random smuggler if they deny to pay them bribe.

If you really think they are doing a great job then just answer me a question how during Eid Ul Adza more then 500000 cows comes to Bangladesh which we sacrifice to only true god allah?
