'Nineteen countries' shun Nobel

Jailed China dissident Liu Xiaobo will receive the Nobel Prize in a couple of days with due encouragement from the West..At the same time, Julian Assange, Wikileaks founder, is being hounded..Differential interpretations of democracy and freedom of speech????

Nobel peace prize: Who is boycotting the ceremony? Liu

This year's Nobel peace prize was awarded this year to Chinese political activist Liu Xiaobo The move angered Beijing, which warned of "consequences" for governments attending the ceremony.

Why such a fuss over such a small thing, how would China feel if the US told them there would be "consequences" for attending an award that the US didnt agree with, they would rightly give the US the finger and tell them to pull thier head in.

To learn and practise what is learned from time to time is pleasure, is it not? To have friends from afar is happiness, is it not? To be unperturbed when not appreciated by others is a gentleman, is it not?

Barring Russia, remaining 18 countries are too small to be noticed by international community.

Most of the countries will attend the Noble peace prize.

Let us stand with world peace, human rights. And, show middle finger to land grabbing, ethnic cleaning brutal communist regime of China.

That's right, China is not interested in anything India has to offer except more raw materials.

India can sit in a quagmire like it always has, and watch the promise of future economic growth vanish.

Point noted on Indian Raw materials.

US exchanging toilet papers called dollars in return for chinese man power & degrading of chinese envrionment and what not, These are various arguments one could bring in discussions! Lets see what china has done about it.

Only a moron will not treat it with the same skepticism.

lol well I don't know what to say because there's quite a few responses saying something to the effect "How dare China dare threaten India!"

What is the BIG controversial in this?! Who cares. China shouldnt even give a damn about this.

Yeah that's not for you or India to decide. If China wants to make a statement at this ceremony, that's our business. You can make your own decision as to whether you'd consider China's request but you are not in a position to make this decision for the 19 others who has declined the invitation or to say what is important to China and what isn't.

Take a chill pill, wasnt that serious. China can brash this off its shoulders. No one even knows this guy and its seriously unimportant to the world.

You don't understand. This a fight for the soul of China. What this d1ckweed wants to do is throw away the prosperity of 1.3 billion people so he can feel idealogical fulfilled. His is a red guard of a different colour and I have no doubt in my mind that he can reap the same amount of horror on China.

Arundhati Roy may one day win the Nobel Prize..then we will see the same thread with the same people on different sides!!

@Chinese members

No need to condemn the countries who are gonna attend the ceremony, they are entitled to make their choice. Since the establishment of PRC in 1949, China has never been adored by the world, especially by the west. We should not be surprised by their decision to humiliate China over Noble Prize.

Rather than being obsessed with who is gonna attend the ceremony, we should focus on the countries who are supporting us this time. We should be happy that we still have 19 countries on our side over this issue. Countries who support China at different occasions are never too humble to become friends of China.

We'll adopt stocism as our state philosophy :)

I think you'll see, we have stressed over and over that it is India's choice to make.
