According to Sindh Board of Investment (SBI) some nine wind power projects are expected to add 800 MW power on grid by June 2013. It was elaborated that Sindh Wind Corridor possessed immense potential to produce about 50,000 MW of energy.

The Board was informed that land had been allotted to 30 projects with installed capacity of 1,947 MWs, out of which nine projects commissioned on fast track are expected to obtain CoD before June 2013 with approx 800 MW power on grid by June 2013.

SBI Chairman Muhammad Zubair Motiwala said the investment promotion in the province could only be done with collective efforts of Public and Private sector. He said that serious efforts were also being made for improving energy situation in Pakistan through multiple measures.

Other than promoting investments in Sindh’s Wind Corridor, SBI is working closely with private sector to examine interventions under solar energy. The SBI is also pushing forward on the matter of Thar Coal Project. SBI Chairman said coal was the new energy future of the province and the country. Pakistan’s coal reserves are the fifth largest in the world for totaling 185 billion tons and covering around 9,000 square kilometres but only 11 million tones of them are being used

Where do they get these stats from?

Where are the projects on Ground? I only know 100MW of wind-powered-projects and that too newspapers are mentioning since last couple of years

Lol, Sindh government giving out ads on newspapers that by 2020, 10,000 MW of electricity will be produced by That coal alone!

Expect this to be one of the same!

these are stealth turbine, specially designed by PPP minionster

i dnt knw why Pakistani's always mention the "POTENTIAL" word

*Feasibility study is nt done yet(atleast 6 months)
*Funds to be allocated(NExt year budget)
*tenders to give the project to a firm(atleast an year)
*Delays and Corruption

It will take atleast 5 years to bring the project ON
