CORONADO, Calif. - (NNS) -- The aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) with embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 11 and Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 11 departed Naval Air Station North Island April 19 and will join up with San Diego-based guided-missile cruiser USS Princeton (CG 59) for a scheduled Western Pacific deployment.

Nimitz left its homeport of Naval Station Everett, Wash., March 29 to join Princeton and CVW 11 for a Sustainment Exercise (SUSTEX) in preparation for their deployment. The Commander, U.S. Third Fleet-led exercise ensured the deployment readiness of key operational components of the strike group after a delay in deployment as a result of an emergent maintenance requirement.

"This fine warship and its outstanding crew will have the opportunity to sail to the Western Pacific and operate in support of our nation's ongoing efforts to ensure maritime security," said Capt. Jeff S. Ruth, Nimitz's commanding officer.

Prior to the maintenance period that led to the sustainment exercise, the CSG went through a series of exercises including a Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX) and Joint Task Force Exercise (JTFEX) that certified them ready for deployment.

"This strike group is more than ready to perform this nation's mission," said Rear Adm. Michael S. White, CSG 11 commander. "They have excelled in a series of strenuous and dynamic exercises and training evolutions in the past year. I can't wait to see what they can do with this next task ahead of them."

During Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2012, the strike group demonstrated the Navy's efforts to reduce consumption of energy, decrease reliance on fossil fuels and significantly increase the use of alternative energy as part of the "Great Green Fleet".

"This ship has navigated successfully through a hectic and fluid schedule throughout 2012 and early 2013," said Ruth. "It is a testament of the flexibility, capability, and commitment of every Sailor on board."

Nimitz's last deployment was in 2009-2010 in support of the nation's Maritime Strategy. After returning from deployment, the ship entered a routine docking planned incremental availability.

U.S. Third Fleet leads naval forces in the Eastern Pacific from the West Coast of North America to the international date line and provides realistic, relevant training necessary for an effective global Navy.

. . . . . . .
The Submarine wolf packs based currently in San Diego will also be moved towards the 7th Fleet AOC , for strategic preparation. I'm referring to the ballistic wolf packs; the USN has taken the threats of the North Koreans seriously and have prepared for any situation. We are also expecting more deployment of AEGIS destroyers to the 3rd & 7th Fleet AOC.

Man this great

We're waiting for the go signal from Malacanang to establish a permanent military base in the Philippines. Something akin to Subic Bay and Clark.

A permanent home for our Strike Group(s). :azn:

Sorry Sir the Constitution Does not allow Foreign Military bases blame the commie filipinos but visit by forces is allowed hence the military excises but in times of war technically allied military forces can use military bases

China and N Korea must take note.

China has more important things to cater for. The priority is to rescue people and save lives of millions trapped in the Sichuan earthquake than to bother for the US usual war mongering in the Pacific Ocean. The recent earthquake has claimed the lives of hundreds of people but western media has relegated this dramatic event in second category while highlighting the Boston event. No western country has offered its help and support to China which as usual has to rely on itself during natural disasters. So proud to see China capable to mobilize its army and aids so quickly than even the US war criminals cannot match. The US is only capable to mobilize WMD to bully China. During the London marathon and other events, a minute of silence has been held for the Boston attack while no such tribute has been granted to more than 200 Chinese death. Racism and neo-colonialism rule.

It's coming to Asia to get sunk by the DF-21D. It's the Nimitz's destiny. Get ready for another spanking like in the Korean War boys.

Wow just because you shoot a metal plate in the ground does not mean you can shot down a real carrier so even if the missle can fly to reach its target (which i doubt very much) it will be shot down by the ships CIWS or intercept by land or sea base defense systems the US is still one the best in terms of military technology in the world plus they have real war experience you guys have no idea what wars is let alone win plus US have allies all over both rich and middle and poor why you guys have poor client states some are just for the money they will not side with you especial fighting the US you guys are just large nothing more i mean if America wanted it too it can bring you guys down so easily if you even if you try to sink that Strike Group and if you succeed well enjoy it because the Way the US would retaliate you guys will be gone in matter of years or even months so please don't delude yourselves your big but your not powerful enough you guys can only win against smaller nations with limited defense like mine but that will soon change we are buying stuff like those new radar systems and Planes like the FA50s and New Ships Like the Incheon class and many more so yup your bullying days are over just like your economy keep that up and you don't need to go to work with anyone your lack of trade because you manage to anger the world with constant warmongering and your ambitions will kill country off no need to fire anything. (Not unless you change which is good)
