am I wrong or is there something wrong with this article.

There is a difference between digital tv (previously analogue tv) and set top boxes which stream the channels over internet.

a tv with in built in digital receiver and roof top tv antenna can be plugged into it and it can pick up signals and you can watch content in HD. this is how it is in Australia.

Where as set top boxes relies on internet and they stream the content. This would mean one must have internet connection unless there is cable tv cable which is being used to bring content. Not many people in Pakistan have access to good enough internet to stream content where people can easily erect antenna on their roof top.

Yes pay tv will be impacted which means cable can be impacted. But not digital tv, technically one can still have access to digital tv provided the channels are broadcasting free to air and in digital format.

This (esp perception of this balance for govt/elites role, scope and performance vs the larger public needs and grievances) all varies from country to country....and is quite complicated and simple at same time. Simple in basic concept of it....but complex in how people form opinion on it in their personal innate sense of morality, fairness and justice.

That is the problem. We do not learn from past. Be it creation of PPP Patriots, PML (Q) or modern day attempts to divide opposition parties.

The process is the same only beneficiaries change. Ever wondered why only those in opposition face the NAB or ANF and not those who switch sides become angels. Ever wondered why military suddenly throws its entire weight behind a government when in the past they resisted such attempts by governments. Ever wondered about the similarities in 2002 political scenario and 2019 political scenario.

For example Dawn leaks a very famous incident created a havoc in the country. Military and opposition on the same page and declaring government as traitors and working for foreign powers. According to the leaks what was proposed in that meeting is being implemented word to word. Who is the traitor now.

The closure of businesses across the country and those still doing businesses planning on starting protests we shall be in reverse gear soon (or already are).

PTI was planning on giving 10 million jobs. I guess first you need to create 10 million jobs by making people un-employed.

I still remember that in late 90s and early 2000 we did not have Pakistani channels in Aus (now you have jadoo etc) so we relied on satellite dish to watch few channels. They were all analog.

Support your assertion and that ridiculous blanket assumption that Pakistanis don't pay taxes and I will prove to you that even Pakistanis who are not supposed to pay taxes have paid income tax for quite long, and Pakistanis (the elites, the untouchables) including the current Riyasat e medina Caliph haven't paid their fair share of taxes which they should have paid. Even today they are using the same old tools and same old sh*t tax laws to punish the ones which never had a say in any matters of the country.

FBR officials are good at sending stupid biannual notices to people who are already registered with them. Why because they are given unreasonable targets and they have to earn bonuses by showing their performance.

This government is in a haste, trying to find a quick fix, trying to get different results from the same old tools and means. Had this government used this one year before the budget on fixing leakages in FBR itself, the tax collection would have gone up not because elite who have means and ways to evade taxes would have started paying, but because the ones who already pay their actual contribution would have been reflected honestly and in a more transparent way ......... but no lets go with the same old thing and try getting different results.

How much do the gaddi nasheen like foreign minister and first lady and all her near and dear pay in taxes out of the money they extract from people they have intentionally left and kept illiterate and astray.

Yes for country like Pakistan they still rely on tv antenna, heck even here in Australia terrestrial tv is the main way as not many people have subscribed to pay tv. However it all is digital.

Terrestrial tv can be broadcast in digital, with new modern tvs having in built digital receiver. thus people in Pakistan can access digital tv without having to rely on set top boxes or kind.

you can do a step better. with a $20-30 box use the analog tvs to access the digital tv signals. it will allow the poor people to continue to watch tv signals as the analog tvs are phased out

My eg was to explain how nations rise from ashes and not by just mere wishing or complaining, the years of malpractice, maladministration, misgovernance, nepotism, and corruption cannot be washed in a single year of the current govt, in fact it will take many many years befor this cant be rooted out.

I haven't had TV in my home here in Germany since last 10 years and I am surviving without any problems. Internet is a must, I use it for everything for news, for entertainment, for online shopping, searching jobs, searching critical information, Improving my German language on daily basis, for payments, for communications and the list goes on.

Having a TV set for me is an outdated ancient concept, I don't understand why people still have TVs in this age of internet. TV is just a POS and waste of time without any productive use.
