This is not my observation, but the observation of Chinese soldiers who interact with their Indian counter parts daily. They said that the Indian border troops rarely train, while the Chinese border troops have to train everyday. Also, all the Indian soldiers he knew where lower caste people while the officers are of upper caste. Basically, the lower caste soldiers don't even care about India and they told the Chinese soldiers that they would run and let officers die if they had to fight China. That's Indian words...

In 1962, the Chinese and Indian economies were of similar size.

In 2011, China's economy is four times bigger than the Indian economy, with comensurate military spending.

As your own Armed Forces have said, the gap between China and India is now too big for India to catch up.

In 1962 India's armed forces were quantitatively and qualitatively 20-30% of the PLA.Consider the history , the Nationalists, the Communists and the other cliques between 1920 to 1949 received military support and training from the Germans, US, Soviets etc. In 1950s the PLA played its part in the Korean war with Soviet weaponry , copied weaponry of soviet origin and soviet training. So in the 1960s the PLA was a formidable force as can be seen in the Korean war. Contrast with India which had a pacifist government from 1947 to start with that starved the military of budgets. Compare the armed forces and the gap today between relative force levels. The situation is not as stark as 1962 and Chinese victory is not a foregone conclusion. Au contraire, the PLA may well get a bloody nose even though it may achieve some tactical victories on the mountains. The mandarins are well aware of this even though the PLA may want to show off its shiny weaponry, well uniformed, well manicured parade ground asphalt troops. Do you think the Chinese government wants a loss of face?

As for GDP numbers , China's GDP may be 3-4 times India's but do some smart accounting for all the "smart" accounting that inflates those numbers including the vast percentage that accrues from exporting cheap toys, leaky batteries and filling up walmart at discount prices. US economists I am sure love the mandarins for all the dollars/ treasury bonds that the People's Bank and FoxConn mops up. The Federal Reserve is running out of trees to cut to print all those green backs with which to pay the Chinese for all their hard work. So the paper is also now being imported from Chengdu adding to China’s bludgeoning 13% Y-o-Y GDP growth.

China is not so strong relative to India today that it can achieve a strategic victory instead the psychological gains of 1962 will be frittered away.

I do not expect any sense of morality from you. Atheistic as you are there is no difference between morality or immorality for you everything is a matter of convenience and expediency. You are perfectly logical. I was referring to our common friend in whom there is a contradiction.
But then the contradiction is resolved when the enemy of my enemy is my friend even if he is a b*st@rd. At least he is my b*st@rd. All perfectly logical.

I was referring to our common friend in whom there is a contradiction and this contradiction is why he was born in the first place. His raison d'etre for existence - his faith and the call of his Gods to rid the good Earth of skeptics and agnostics.
