Yeah google translate makes shitty translation they translated fan(some one with an idol) to ventilateur i got a whole lot of laughs directed at me for right i am ventilateur of --------- :-//

Gah i am forgetting its rules again
French was the most difficult language i attempted in my life
I also tried german it was comparatively easier than French ecause its structure was similar to English but i didnt study it for more than 3 hours :D

In German literal English translations are spot on while in French they were totally wrong my teacher gave me a big zero for using google translate as a guide for my assignment

I studied French for 2 months all i could do after that was make simple sentences
Guess quitting mid session wasnt such a good idea :D

That's good at least you tried.
The language is difficult with all the rules and so on.
Don't worry, there are also native french who struggle with the language. :enjoy:

I think two European languages are more than enough for me(English and a little bit of french :D oui madame je parle peu francois )

French might as well be some alien dialect to me, half of what people write on PDF too. I can't tell Urdu from any other South Asian language and Google Translate doesn't even recognize them:blink:!! I think it has an option to translate Urdu, but it doesn't recognize the words anyway.

Icelandic, Norwegian, Swedish, English and Polish, those are the languages I'm capable with. Four of the five fluently.

I can now understand French just a little not that much i will learn it,Mandarin and German properly after completing my Masters

Haha google translate cant translate a language written in a different script with incorrect spellings its like writing English in Arabic script and expecting poor Google translate to know by some magic that you wrote Arabic

For example
My name is Asim
In urdu is written as
میرا نام عاصم ہے
But in roman script we can write it as
Mera naam Asim hay

How will google know what i mean and in what language when even the script is incorrect :D

Urdu and Hindi are pretty interesting languages, they are pratically the same as you can communicate with indians, but the alphabet is very, very different,no related at all.

merci freir :D
I think it means thanks bro?

More like "Merci frère",or "Merci mon frère". ;-) But nobody would make the difference if you say "Merci freir" orally. :D
Writing is,as always,different though.

 Lucky you guys. Learning two different ways to write your language. Fortuntely for me Norwegian is written mostly with traditional English Runes, though we've some of our own too.

Doesn't stop Google Translate from butchering Norwegian too:(. It's not even a hard language to learn, just as easy as German, but not as widespread. But no, Google Translate doesn't even get half the words right.

I was translating this article for another forum, after another member posted a Google Translate version.

http://nettsteder.regjeringen.no/ka...the-right-stuff-top-gun-eller-noe-helt-annet/

Half the damn article was wrong and some words like "målbelysningsutstyr" weren't translated at all:angry:!! That means targeting pod, BTW. For a more difficult language like Icelandic, yeah I can understand why it'd have an issue. It's not easy to learn, even for native speakers/writers, but Norwegian too:o:!?

Shaking my damn head over here:tsk:

Yep the script has an interesting politics behind it even the script has a religion

They are same originorigin and are still mainly similar barring the script
The language Punjabi(spoken in Punjab India and Pakistan ) actually has 3 scripts 3 religions of Punjab used 3 scripts

When people see words like Gårdsdrift they run away from the language.

Urdu and Hindi are pretty interesting languages, they are pratically the same as you can communicate with indians, but the alphabet is very, very different,no related at all.

During Mughal times, most of Northern India was under Mughal rule- Mughals had come from Central Asia and via Kabul- so their court language was Persian- Now many Indians started learning Persian for getting high salary court jobs- In the process many words from Persian came into Hindi and vice versa- and Poets and writers developed a unique language Urdu- which is spoken similar to Hindu but script is like Persian and written from Right to left-

As It was court language and mostly used by Nobels- It was very polite and you can call It the French of North India- Poets further added beauty by writing lovely poems on It- It is very hard to directly insult someone in Classic Urdu and some version of Hindi spoken in some Rural areas- you will feel the person is about to throw a punch even If talking politely- These days Urdu has lost Its beauty as the language is lost in Hindi- Pakistanis tried to develop an identity with Urdu but they too couldn't do much Justice and only ended up bastardizing It-

If anyone has to write a love letter in North India- Urdu vocabulary is the best-
