New DG ISPR: Major General Ahmed Sharif

He can also resign, a concept so alien to Pakistani officials that they react as if you've asked them to commit public blasphemy.

Moral courage doesn't exist anymore. It's all for the seat.
Moral Courage comes after retirement!

Good move to transfer the DGISPR to a very "cushy" posting as CC V Corps.

Next the DGISI should also be transferred to complete the removal of " baggage " left behind by Gen B.

Further the quick postings in other commands suggest that the new COAS was not seeing "eye to eye " with the postings of Gen B.

History doesn't allow you to wait. When there is no merit for the selection and everytime US and corrupt mafia influences the new COAS. In 8/10 cases we have a "Mir".

Correction: 99/100 Cases

Sir Jee: Never expected a "Negative Rating" from you at all on Post # 106. His logic is correct.

To add insult to injury maj gen faisal naseer will be the next DG ISI. Specially if PTI again comes to power.

Hoping against hope!

Not sure if the reports of some PTI social media people being picked up and beaten up over the past two nights were true or not. Not a great start. If Asim Munir is serious, the CI Wing needs to start focusing exclusively on actually catching foreign spies and less on local thuggery.

Well rewarded.

He did his job which was to communicate the army's PoV as his boss suggested and he did that with professionalism. That PTI and its supporters did not like the Army's message is not Lt Gen Babar's fault. As suggested earlier, don't shoot the messenger and let's stop maligning people just because you happen to have a difference of political opinion.

Agreed...somewhat.

But I do believe that the institution of ISPR needs a revamp. It has become completely different from what it was supposed to be under Raheel Sharif.

Ideally, half the things that ISPR does should be done by the defence ministry or JSHQ. At the moment ISPR is APR, not IS.

Depute a military officer on a rotational basis to the defence ministry as a media liaison, or as a spokesman, but it should be coming from that platform, not GHQ directly.

The PR departments in each branch should still exist, but their job should be to provide input to the PR guy at MoD, provide the pictures and videos and other such things.

This would go a long way in getting back some semblance of normality.

ISPR has no business coercing media persons, channels, and other such avenues.

Yeh Major bhi Dhakay Bangaalay ki maarta hae.

Thoray paisay kamanay do becharay ko...us nay bhi apni dukan chalani hai.

Read somewhere that no one from his course rose above the rank of Lt Col. Not sure if that is true or not.

No material is available for a revolutionary broth. Only a few empty vessels.

All ingredients were present during the spontaneous combustion of rage when the VNOC succeeded, the courts opened at midnight, etc.

But, yes, time is the great healer. People's daily lives and issues take over. Emotions settle.

Now, it's back to the system... welcome back to the matrix :)

*Joint Chief

Oh yes.

But in Pakistan usually the CJCSC is the office given to the candidate who is most qualified to be COAS but could not be made COAS due to political considerations.

Some like Ashfaq Nadeem prefer retirement (and getting a cushy job at Mari :P), while others go to the Joint Chiefs.

A Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committe should also be from either Navy or PAF.
There was in the past AM Feroze? and Adm Sirohi as JCSC during Gen Z era if I'm not mistaken. Since then strictly Army which is against the norm of inter-services co-ordination.

CGS is a purely Army position.
In the past if one was appointed CGS it was understood that the CGS would be the next Chief. CGS basically runs the army and is involved in all appointments.

Admiral Faish bukhari protested giving the post of cjsc to hawaldars time and again and ignoring the other two forces which could turn the tide in war .

Consequently navaz sharif asked him to resgin for speaking against an injustice.

Gen Ishfaq Nadeem announced Neela Industial Zone and was taking credit of Neela Interchange in 2016, just before his selection as COAS. It is rumor in Chakwal that his was cousin of Dr. Yasmin Rashid. He Completed his term and was not retired even after a month of appointment of Bajwa as COAS.
