2nd Airbus A320 acquired by PIA arrives in Islamabad

The second airplane Airbus A320 recently acquired by the Pakistan International Airlines on lease landed at Islamabad International Airport today (Saturaday).
According to the PIA spokesperson, the plane arrived in Islamabad from France.
The A320 has been acquired on lease for six years which will formally be inducted in the PIA fleet in the next few days.
Earlier, the national flag carrier had also acquired similar plane on dry lease three weeks ago, which has already become part of the operation.

PIA has been a burden on the Pakistani treasury throughout most of it's existence. It has been used and abused by most rulers, establishment, and the political parties as a free ride service, and an employment place for their lackeys.

Now the government has to make a choice, either to shut it down, or privatize it. However, the most likely outcome would be to just continue with the status quo, like most things in Pakistan.

Country have to have a functioning airlines and railway as a strategic troop lift / transport capacity. US govt support major US airlines with troop transport contracts during peace time across the country and also gives billions in bailout whenever needed. Indirectly they are owned by US govt.

We are no where as rich as US. Besides, if they really cared about these vital strategic assets, then they wouldn't be in such sorry state.

kher 11 to nhi hain sir function planes are today there are 28 active aircrafts in PIA . but then PIA is not only airline in pakistan we have total 28+11+7+3 total 49 but its still a big shame sir . we need some 120 planes at this time if we have fair slots and shear in market which you mentioned was give to ME5 TR and others back then
BTW someone ask this rambo air force marshal whom became CEO of PIA where is boeng-777 AP-BGL since one year :lol: :D

Rich or not, they are vital enough for govt to keep them alive. They are in sorry state due to decades long incompetence. Nothing to do with PTI.

Fair slots, will not insure adequate market share. For that you need to have top class service. In today's cut throat business world, consumer is king. They will not settle for second best.

You only have to look at the domestic market, which is highly regulated, yet no one with half a bran cell, wants to fly PIA, hence why pvt airlines are thriving.

A fact lost on those managing PIA. With the bad customer service why will I pay them my hard earned cash if I get a better service with another service provider. PIA needs impetus of fresh educated workforce more than it needs new planes.
