What's new

New AH-1Zs are going to be stationed in Multan, Army tender notice reveals

Vipers
aint coming. We all remember what USA did with Benazir era F-16s. We paid for them and they offered wheat in return not F-16.

AH-1Z can carry AIM-9 or Long Bow Radar on wing tip stations. If Radar isnt being procured then stations are free for AIM-9 granted that the s/w capability exists in avionics/electronics systems.

Hi,

The US had refused pakistan this option---when it was requested years ago.

What USA is doing is first we used to get some times on reduced prices or USA use to pay to get weapons from their companies. But now they are saying you pay. USA is still open to sell us weapons but they are now saying pay full price
very idiotic to buy weapons from usa

If choppers were not coming it wouldve been in the media, esp the US one. So unless there is a specific law or amendment that passes through congress specifically baring AH-1Z transfers, they are going to be in PA inventory sooner or later.

they will be soon dont worry...more interesting is swift ships, choppers will simply go to the marines but will happen to the swift ships

f-16s were blocked too

Another issue is that the full price for Pakistan is usually inflated to include pay backs to US manufacturers. It's no secret that US aid is used for supporting local defense manufacturers and there was a news article on how it is inflated to include compensations and kick backs, while at the same time ensures US jobs. It was ok as long as these were subsidized/paid by FMF, but when Pakistan is being asked to pay in full from it's own budget then they have to be bargained. Same was the issue for the additional F-16 Block-52s, US didn't refuse them but their pricing was not worth the investment for Pakistan.

Pakistan's AH-1Z's have the exact same specs as the ones being inducted for the US marines, the US has not downgraded any of it's capabilities. As long as they are either delivered to Pakistan or not routed to US Marines it will be a open book.

Will have to wait and see.

The helicopters ain't here yet and not coming for some time

Three have already arrived, this has been discussed before in detail.

American send this instead of Cobra

Waz Bhai as per best sources three choppers still in USA and under trials.

A professional on this very forum stated they are with Pakistan bro, hence the need to build the housing facilities quickley. The delivery listing also stated that they would be with Pakistan now, that's from the sources you stated.
If they had been stopped there would be uproar, but as I understand lack of funds seems to be an issue with the remaining 9.
Ultimately no one really knows what's going on.

This is what the news seems to be.

Pakistan received the first three of 24 American AH-1Z “Viper” helicopter gunships at the end of 2017, with another nine arriving in 2018. The AH-1Zs are newly built and most of them are for the U.S. Marine Corps which declared them operational in 2011 and sent some of to Afghanistan to do the same sort of thing Pakistan wants them for not far from where the Vipers first served in 2011.
